Having finally arriving with my wife after a long drive at Les Landes the beauty of the place was truly overwhelming. The swimming pool was so inviting in the 33°c heat and as I gazed over the pristine 4 acre lake, I could see carp jumping out here and there as so to say "catch me if you can!". Needless to say, within an hour of arriving I was into my first of many carp.

In total I caught 24 carp. The biggest being 32lb. I had another two 30lbers and around 10 in the higher 20's. I hooked into what looked like a 40lber but as I was playing the fish, it jumped up high out of the water and managed to shake my hook out. So I started to retrieve my tackle only for a zander to take the bait. Amazing fishing! The fishing was that good that I ended up just using one rod as I couldn't cope with my other rods screaming off whilst i was playing another fish, it really was that good!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Before setting off I was advised to take krill boilies so I bought 20kg and a bottle of krill glug and also 25kg of particle mix. Tony the owner advised me to also use trout pellets as that is what they feed them on throughout the year, all these ingredients went into my bait boat and sent out to the far margins with a 20mm krill boilie dipped in the glug and presented on a ronnie rig. Within 10 minutes i was into my first of many Les Landes carp! Although not a monster it was very well received and i now knew that this was gonna be an epic week of angling and i was not wrong.

After catching a few more, Tony and Kim came to see how i was getting on and then advised me to fish out in the middle next to the two lilly pads as that is where I will find the bigger fish. Within 10 minutes of taking the advice, I was into my pb of 32lb. It was like the frequency of tiddler bashing but for decent carp. The best week's angling of my life!

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were out if this world. A fantastic swimming pool and hot tub was great to be able to cool down in the blistering 34°c heat. A very comfortable kingsize bed and large english tv so i could still watch the world cup finals when not fishing.

The grounds in the full complex was maintaned to an extremely high standard, the pruning of the beautiful flora and fauna and the mowing of the lawns around the full perimetre of the lake. It was like fishing a lake on a golf course, it was that good! The owners even went to the extreme of picking up any peacock poo so as to keep it to this standard!

The accomodation was truly outstanding. Far better than my wildest dreams

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

I would most definitely recommend this place to a friend, however my only fear is that this place will become fully booked for many years to come and I will have to wait for my return. But it will definitely be worth the wait!

Angling Lines have vetted this place and although this was my first holiday with them, I wont be looking anywhere else

General Comments:

Not just for fantastic angling but an excellent venue for a peaceful holiday in the sun. The owners Tony and Kim really did go out of their way to make it as perfect as possible and perfect it was. We went out for meals and drinks with the owners and had a great time and a fantastic laugh. I would like to call them our new found friends.

Even when I broke my landing net, Tony lent me his so I could carry on catching and at the end of the holiday he gave me mine back all repaired by him so I dont have to replace it. What more could anyone ask from your English hosts. The duck egg that I was given that I had for breakfast was truly delicious.

10+ 29’s, mirrors and commons, all great condition
Few smaller carp
Some black bass caught also using 6ft scoping rod

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were fantastic, completely exceeded our expectations. Credit to Kim and Tony for being great hosts and making us feel at home. The gite was outstanding, the swims and lake in excellent condition and very well maintained.

Were you happy with them?

We would recommend this lake to anyone looking for a fishing break combined with some relaxing holiday time. The fishing was a good challenge trying different combination of baits and locations around the lake to land some decent carp. Teamed with the company of the peacocks and other wildlife we had a fantastic break! Would definitely book again.

Lots of fish caught on a daily basis however lots of them small. A few low 30's were caught through the week.

Much better than expected. The current owners were really nice friendly people and clearly take lots of pride in their venue. This venue is very well set up for either families or groups of friends
