Laroussi - Unbelievable, 24th Aug

We have just had an update in from Laroussi 23rd August and thought it worth a mention.

Pill Pohl who is fishing on the la chene swim has already had 19 fish so far this week including 14 x 40s and 2 60s to 66 06. Given the heat he had expected to blank and still had two nights left in his week to go. To quote him... it's an unbelievable place.

However in the extreme heat other swims have struggled

Update today Friday 24th August and Phil has now had 2x60s to 66. 06. 15 x40s to 49 .14, a couple of 30s and 20s and a couple of grass carp. A 52lb sturgeon all caught on 18mm boilies with a white pop up fished on a inline drop off. All fish caught around 85 yards nothing caught at range as he was advised, fish were showing at range but not feeding there. Temperatures today cooling down considerably.

No April Fool - It's The Record Catfish!, 2nd Apr

The lake record catfish came out yesterday, April 1st. Of course we couldn't have let you know on April 1st or you would have thought we were just fooling around!

Matthew Parker has landed the Laroussi Monster which has remained uncaught (or should we say unlanded since its been hooked & lost several times we suspect) for years.

It was an epic fight of 1hour 20 minutes. His friend, David Nuttal, was standing in the lake ready to net the fish but he made a quick exit back to the bank when he saw the size of the monster coming towards him!

It was impossible for the guys to weigh because it was too long and their scales only went up to 120lb. However, using internationally accepted tables to estimate weight based on length (the cat was 2.30m long) it comes out between between 70 and 80kg depending the width of the body.

So that means it's a new lake record catfish for Laroussi, with the weight between 154lb and 176lb.

The cat was caught from the Pointe swim, around 40m out.

Well done to Matthew and good luck for the rest of the week.

70lb 6oz, 58lb , 58.07oz ... all mirrors, 31st Mar

Last week anglers Andrew Redfeam and Kevin Mellor had a superb week at the Laroussi venue.

They had about 24 fish between them : 41lb5oz, 41lb8oz, 42lb5oz, 46lb3oz, 49lb8oz, 41lb, 40lb, 58lb, 70lb6oz, 58lb7oz, 39lb, 37lb, 30lb, 27lb perfect zip linear. Now the common's : 32lb8oz, 21lb. Sturgeon : 57lb, 55lb. Grass carp x 6 up to 34lb.

Now they can't wait to get back!
