We all caught but it was tough going with the fish starting to spawn at the end of the week. We managed 4 grass carp over 50lb with the biggest over 60lb. The highlight of the trip was a beautiful 63lb mirror but we also caught commons of 56 and 54 plus mirrors of 51, 42 and 36. Laroussi is a lovely lake with some great fish but it’s not easy especially if you’re not on the fish. Mehdi has removed the majority of catfish and there weren’t any caught.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

If they were feeding they took a variety of baits. The bait Mehdi supplies is top quality if you don’t want to take your own

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. They are basic but there’s a big chest freezer and a big fridge plus a warm shower and sink. Nothing fancy but all you need

Mehdi the owner is fantastic. He’s really passionate about the lake and was always happy to help but left us alone to fish. Laroussi is a proper carp lake with big carp that don’t all look the same and lots of varied features but don’t go there thinking you’ll be hauling all week

Tried all approaches, caught 3 fish and all the biggest on fake corn over particles hemp and pellet and corn. Others on blueberry Wafters and yellow pop up chord rig.

Yes always enough for a week on a drive survive

General Comments:

This lake is probably one of the top lakes you can visit but be under no illusion that you can turn up in France and catch. It is a lake for the very dedicated carp anglers. Work hard to what you see and feel and you will catch, sometimes easier than other times. We worked hard and got a few rewards, could have been better but I never would look back and try to make out and say it could of been better the week. We had done well with what was in front of us, how the fish moved and were weary and trying everything, I’m happy. We had also 5 other runs which we lost due to distance fishing for them from our swim. We decided to move to where we knew they were and bought in 2 nice commons from this, which I don’t normally do due to our large set up and when lake is full you can’t do. If anyone wants a challenge with what can bring a big fish if all goes good then trust me, try Laroussi. And once again you won’t meet a nicer guy than Mehdi. So thanks again to Angling Lines and Mehdi on another great time on a great French lake.

General Comments:

Very lucky with the weather only one frosty night and mild for the rest of the time. The water was crystal clear and the lake looked beautiful. I had several of the new fish Mehdi has stocked and im sure they will pile the weight on. Big thanks to Mehdi and Caroline the perfect hosts as usual.

First bite was the 56lb´er! This is my third 55lb+ carp from Laroussi just fishing short sessions. Merry Christmas!
