Robbert Horst
20th Mar to 27th Mar 2021
3 anglers
Details of your catches:
20 carp in total. The biggest being 48lb mirror, 48.5lb mirror, 53lb mirror and 55lb ghostie. No grass, tench, cats or other nuisance fish.
Stefan (L’Anse) 3 fish to 48,5lb
Yorick (La Point) 8 fish to 53lb
Robbert (Les Saules) 9 fish to 55lb
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Fishing the margins with a mix off CCU Milky Coconut & Nutty Scopex boilies with hemp, corn, buckwheat and small pellets. To avoid small fish, the best hookbaits to use were single boilies straight from the bag or pink pop-ups.

General Comments:
A difficult week in March with temperatures that varied enormously. Most of the week a strong wind from the north and freezing at night. The first few days it was mainly looking for the fish. The fish were clearly not very active yet and they certainly did not come to us this week.
Once we had found the fish, they appeared to be hanging around in a number of places, somewhat grouped. Centrally on the water in front of “La point” and between the branches where the sun shined most of the day.
Given the time of year, my experience is mainly to fish very attractive, so white and yellow pop-ups, small snowmans and little or no bait. With this approach we occasionally caught a fish, but we still had the feeling that there was more to be had.
Most of the fish initially came from La Point. A few meters from the bank on the opposite side and left central on the water where the fish regularly showed. From this swim, fishing with Originals Krill Caramel and Strawberry Special Yorick also caught on average the bigger fish with multiple fish over 30lb including a 48lb and a 53lb, both of which meant a new PB for him.
Stefan caught the same 48lb mirror from L'Anse earlier that week. This fish, unlike the rest, also shows clear signs of being caught frequently. The rest off the fish we’ve caught were absolute stunners. We saw mainly many small commons swimming along the margins in the snags. In those places we chose to introduce more bait than the time of year prescribes. By fishing here with attractive hookbaits, CCU Milky Coconut and CCU Nutty Scopex snowmans, we mainly caught the small commons.
With the drone we also saw some larger carp swimming nearby, including the ghostie that, according to Mehdi, would weigh over 56lb. This fish could make up for Robbert's week, because until then he mainly caught the smaller fish (up to just over 33lb). The last 2 days of the week it was his mission to catch it!
The snowmans had to make way for a single boilie straight from the bag and outside the baited area a single pink pop-up. The last morning it finally happened and Robbert caught the ghostie at 55lb.
Given the circumstances, it was absolutely a successful week. You will certainly have to work for it at Laroussi, but rewards are there to be had. Actively looking for the fish and extremely precise fishing and feeding are a must here! Be prepared to move swims and fish where the fish are and be very precise to fish in the exact same spot every time.
Mehdi is an excellent host. Stick to the rules and he's your best friend. A very friendly man and very helpful.

General Comments:
A superb lake which gives you the feel of proper wild carping with the mature tree lined banks and natural but accessible swims, the lake bed is also very interesting with many humps bumps and gulley's giving many options of where to place baits.
The owner Mehdi is very nice and helpful with plenty of advice on tactics and feeding spots in the swims if needed, also Mehdi bailiff's with a very good balance of being at hand if needed but also let's you get on with your fishing without being intrusive.
All in all a brilliant venue with fish that are in an amazing condition hard fighting with clean mouths and massive tail fins. The photo's below are of an amazing triple take
