General Comments:

Hard week due to the weather but been here now for the past 3 years and had some great PBs from Laroussi. And will be back for sure.

Details of your catches:

Sneaky Sam (joint top rod) had 25-12m, 15c, 42m, 40-02m, 40-12gc, 45-10m, 18gc, 18c and all on his french and Larroussi debut. Huge carp spawned in his swim:-) Johnie5 had 19c, 20c, 26c, 26m, 28gc, 40-14m, 8 different tench and a mallard (still living and well) Elstow Paul (wanabee rainbow) caught 26m, 23c, 64 sturgeon (very proud) 3 x 20c, 2 x 15c, 13m, 2 x 10m. Alex (Heathrow) caught a 9lb tench using a mitchell 300 with a richard walker split cane rod and he saw carp crash, one of his silver foil indicators moved an inch, he filmed carp spawning, filmed tench basking, had a social BBQ in his swim and caused intoxication to people catching fish to slow them down. He also ate and showered well. He took along a very beautiful portable kitchen that was much admired by all. Phil (another wanabee rainbow) caught 29-12c, 21m, he also took along a portable kitchen but lacked the ostentation of Alex's finishing touches. Johny Boy, defo sure he couldn't be a rainbow :-( Took 8 fish including a 55-8 m, 47-12m, 46-4m, 37gc. 5th Dan Pete, (wanabee armchair Bruce Lee) BLANKED but for a 3 pound coot I got to first,landed for him and returned alive and well. He fished the swim around the corner next to me and endured me poncing 100's of teas, breakfasts and successfully hid a packet of chocolate eclairs from me until I found them near last day only two left. Spawning slowed the lake down except for Sam's swim when his swim came alive. So we had 35 fish in total which would have been double that but for carp having sex on the beach :-)

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I found just spontaneously turning up in people's swims asking if their "kettle works" got a good response, when that magic wore off I put their kettles on and kept asking where stuff woz also got them taking over and making it for me in annoyance. It has to be said that being in other people's swims kept them out of my swim,kept my swim quiet and I think the fish responded to that until they got randy. I came back with five pints of milk having only took 6, result :-)

Facilities were very good but on a minor point here Medhi needs to keep his lake on the cutting edge and I think its high time WI FI was available in the cabin, Johny5 racked up another £500 talking dirty to his girlfriend most of the day :-)

Facilities were fine, especially the large fridge and freezer, and we made good use of the lodge as a base to meet and eat.

General Comments:

This is a beautiful venue, everything very neat and tidy but not too manicured - probably one of the best we’ve been to in France. Mehdi is a great host, giving plenty of tips and advice if asked but generally leaves you to it to enjoy the fishing.
