Tiger nuts over maize and pellet. The poisson chat destroyed boilies within the hour.

Yes, very nice cottage with excellent pool.

General Comments:

Went to the Lotus Lake for a quiet holiday with the family and a bit of fishing. Family loved the cottage, pool and sun of Southern France, fishing was a bonus. Poisson Chat and grass carp were a little out of control but the lake owners gave us free bait to feed them off so couldn't really complain.

*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. The owners have now removed many grass carp and are also actively managing the poisson chat. Finally they have added a few larger carp to the lake. We believe that this will improve catch reports.

Details of your catches:

We caught fish every day. Weather was hot and sunny but a couple of nights we had storms which stirred things up a bit with the fish. In the main we caught grass carp, some mirror and common carp. The challenges were: the lake is full of crayfish, small nuisance catfish and poisson chat. Accordingly, we were constantly putting out bait and rebaiting! There are a few snags in the lake too.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We used boilies, sweetcorn, tiger nuts, also trout pellets.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were nice.

Yes.

Yes for a peaceful week's holiday. The pool is lovely, especially in the south of France heat! It was also located in a tranquil location yet just a 5 minute drive to the nearest village (Laroque Timbaut) which had lots of amenities such as a fabulous boulangerie, a church and a good supermarket and cafes and restauruants. This was nice for both my husband and I to take a little time out from fishing too. The drive from the UK is a long drive as it is close to the Toulouse region but worth it if you want the weather. It was straightforward and easy to find. The people in that region were very nice and very friendly.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, all in all very smooth booking procedure with Angling Lines and the hosts Gilles and Sharon were most accommodating. Very nice and good people.

Well equipped lakeside house, dry comfortable bed.
A bit of a trek to carry food up to the terrace to eat outside, but worth it.

Were you happy with them?

Very happy - extremely hot but house stayed cool.

Loved Mas Bas, and great help from 'The fishing maestro' can't remember his name, but bets are on Laurie!!

Details of your catches:

Fished a few hours hours each day, mainly mornings and late afternoon, on the spots Gilles recommended. Caught 53 across the five days we fished, 10 Grass carp, 15 Commons, 27 Mirrors and a beautiful Orange Koi. Mostly the fish were upper doubles with a few low 20's, all really hard fighting and in good condition.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

When Gilles said you'll only need one rod each, we were sceptical, but glad we listened to his advice as we had numerous double takes throughout the week.

We used balanced tiger nuts on a KD rig or wrapped bottom baits supplied by Gilles. We've seen reports of Poisson Chat in the lake but we weren't plagued by them at all, only catching three.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Everything you need for a great self catering holiday. The Gite is spacious and nicely decorated with a really well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, great showers, washing machine and dishwasher. The pool area is lovely and the outdoor patio next to the lake was a lovely space to spend time relaxing with the Family.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes 100% - Sharon was awesome helping to guide us through the Covid protocols and what we needed to do prior to returning home and Gilles put us on the right spots for the fishing. We found our hosts really friendly and helpful and will definitely return.

Yes, used Angling Lines many times and service is always top drawer.
