General Comments:

Had a great week at MDP unfortunately changeable weather meant we only caught 1 carp each but they were absolutely mint fish.
Scott and Heather were great hosts and super helpful, made us feel really welcome.
What they have done with the lake is amazing such a great setting, watching the kingfishers in the mornings topped it off.
the middle swim is perfect for a social.
Will definitely go again to get some of the bigger specimens out 10/10!

Details of your catches:

2 carp one mirror and one common. Mirror 39lb 12oz, Common 35lb 11oz. Both fish had shown excellent growth rates since either their last capture or stocking. The fishing was slow which I expected as this was the 2nd consecutive week of heatwave conditions. it was in excess of 40°C all week.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I used the house pellet and nutrabaits boilie provided by the lake owner, both excellent products and ones the fish are used to being fed.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. Everything you need as an angler, lovely clean and well appointed shower and toilet, fridge, freezer and washing up facilities.

Were you happy with them?

Very much so, a lovely touch was the option to purchase water the had been chilled or an ice cream, which I took advantage of in the heat.

Yes, in fact I'm going to rebook and bring my best friend, my wife.

Yes, it was all easy, and the communication was very good.

General Comments:

I had a fantastic week, I was so relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed my time. The lake is amazing as are the fish. The lake has clearly been designed by an experienced angler with every aspect meticulously considered. The swims are spacious, clean and very neat, planting is sympathetic, and the overall impression is that Carlsberg make carp lakes! Scott and Heather are perfect hosts, wanting their guests to have a wonderful time. Scott's angling knowledge allied to his knowledge of his lake and the fishes patterns of behaviour, offer his clients help should they need it, to make the best of their holiday. I had every expectation it was going to be a difficult week, that did not detract at all from my enjoyment, at the start we said a couple of fish would be above par for the conditions, and so it proved. As for the fish the are immaculate, scale perfect, clean, very fit and healthy, I got a right beating up from the common it just did not want to give up. The location is amazing, very private and hidden away, its what I imagine it must have felt like to our sports pioneering anglers when they first set eyes on Redmire. The wildlife was another bonus, I think I was in excess of 20 different species of birds, two red squirrels, lizzards, and so many butterflies, topped by my 1st ever Swallowtail.

General Comments:

The fishing was harder than previous visits this week due to hot weather spell 31-36 degrees all week but we did catch some of the stunning fish this venue has.
Scott and Heather were very welcoming and are always working hard improving what’s needed around the venue.
Love this venue and will be back

General Comments:

Scott and Heather are excellent hosts, making me feel like I had known them for a long time. The lake is shallow and affects the fishing depending on the conditions. The first night the temperature dropped drastically. The second night was warm and the fish then started to show, but I had to wait until the last morning to have a stunning 36.8lb common. It was hard fishing but would definitely go back.
