I managed 9 carp all in absolutely immaculate condition! 20/30/40s up to an impressive lump of a common at 57lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Maize/pellet/boilie and a fair bit of it probably around 40 kilo of bait for the week and should have used more.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Hot shower/toilet and there is an eating area for breakfast and dinners.

The fishing is challenging but the rewards are there to be had! There are some massive carp swimming about but they are definitely a challenge. Listen to the advice given it’s needed and will put you in good shape to get a few under your belt.

General Comments:

It’s a challenging venue you need to pay attention and be on the ball to get the most from the venue. Andy and rob will give you the information needed on the lake/swims and the spots, you need to listen to what they say because the carp in sky lakes are no mugs. The lake isn’t for anglers wanting to go and just pub chuck rigs out or just drive a bait boat around all week, the advice and help is there for everyone so don’t be fooled into thinking your going to turn up and empty the lake because the chances are you not, but saying that if you fish well and get it right then the rewards are there in abundance.

34 fish to our group in peg 10,11,12. I had the most fish of the week with 32 fish 1 x 50 4 x 40s

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Slip d rig with wafters. We baited up from the start with the rowing boat. After every fish taking the bait boat out. With a mixture of nash citrus and skylakes specials plus the maze and pellets.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Not really. We found that the shower was in the house where there lived. And we felt abit rude and encroaching on there privacy.

There did the job

Yes definitely the lake is beautiful and the way it's peg out is perfect. Andy and the team are so friendly and welcoming.

Big thanks to Andy rob and bernie for looking after us for the week. The food was just enough. Nothing was never to much trouble for them and always willing to help.

Sky Lakes own boilies and particles. Depending on swim either open water or tree line margin. Double bottom bait or single wafter.

General Comments:

We have all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Sky Lake. The hospitality and advice is second to none, 5 of us have broken our pbs and one young man has a pb for life probably after catching a unit of a fish at 80lb 12oz. Then we've had a brace of fifties, a few 40's, 30's, 20's and a couple under 20lb.
Massive thanks to Andy Bernie and Rob for everything it's been a fab holiday and we are hoping to be back when we can. If there's any doubters out there about the place then take it from me you will be hard pushed to not enjoy your stay here and as I always say the catching of the fish is the bonus side of things and there are plenty of them to catch.
Just listen to Rob and Andy and they will try their best to help you get a fish on the bank and always on hand to help out no matter what time of day/night, I lost count of how many times we rang Rob in the early hrs to help out. Just a couple of pics of the biggest fish we caught.

Me and my mate came for the week and had 7 absolutely picture perfect carp all mirrors, the stock of carp in here has to be seen to be appreciated, seriously stunning carp every single fish.
2x 20s
One at 32.3lbs
One at 38.1lbs
One at 48.1lbs
One at 53lbs on the nose
and a grass carp (55lbs)

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

‘Sky lake specials’ by munch baits is the only tactic that me or likely anyone who’s been can recommend along with the lake particle mix and house pellet (boilies crumbed up into the mix) was absolutely devastating, the fish are fed on it so it makes complete sense not to stray far from what works. It’s very very fairly priced, considering what other lakes charge for bait.
With use of double boilies straight out the bag onto basic d rigs drop off inlines placed off the boat directly onto known feeding spots which Andy the owner had put us onto from the start of the week.
Bottom line is listen to the advice given to you on the first day. It’s not the type of venue where flying in the face of authority will get you far, the way to catch them is to listen to Andy or Rob who are more than happy to help.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Shower room and toilet kept absolutely immaculate.
Swims were all very spacious and none of the usual rubbish (tag ends loose tackle) on the ground, absolutely stunning place and kept very very clean and tidy by Andy.

Were you happy with them?

Extremely, could not have asked for anything more.

General Comments:

Had an absolutely incredible week. Andy could not have done more for us. Considering we had very little experience fishing from a boat or fishing at any sort of range Andy explained everything to us in thorough detail for the style of angling required for this water.
Not only this he bent over backwards for us ensuring that we had a good trip, the lake is absolutely stunning and surrounded by established woodland, the pictures do it no justice. Place is run so well and the big telltale sign of this is that most of the anglers you will meet here have been coming for a decade or more, always a good sign when a lake can keep people coming back for such a long time. We’ve already booked our trip next year before we even left the venue. Completely in awe with the week we’ve just come away with, massive massive thank you to Andy the owner and all the other anglers on the lake. Incredible place
