About the Lake
Souvenirs is split into two banks (north bank and woods bank), each with it’s own entrance and access track.
Swims
Spread over the two banks are 11 single swims. Whilst the swims can be fished individually, they are grouped close enough together to enable a social atmosphere if you wish.
All swims are large with a minimum area of 6x6m. Swims on the north bank are surfaced with white shingle and on the woods bank with local gravel and sand.
Please note that during periods of low water levels (i.e. in hot summers) removable steps are fitted to the swim’s retaining wall on the north bank to provide improved access to the lake and boat. These are taken away once water levels return to normal.
For all the swim information take a look at the lake map here - simply click on each swim icon for a detailed description of the features of each.
Vehicle Access & Campervans
Vehicle access is good and you can park relatively close to all swims (at most you would be around 15m from your swim). For fishing from larger vehicles such as campervans; swims 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are all suitable.
You can drive round from one side of the lake to the other using the external track. You cannot walk the whole way around the lake perimeter due to adjacent properties being too close to the banks.
Lake Features
The lake has various plateaus at differing depths where the carp love to feed. There are many options under overhanging margins and a few snags here and there make for good spots - but please stay on your rods if fishing close to these.
Baitboats are allowed and you can also rent a rowing boat on site for placing your rigs directly onto features, but casting to many areas is both possible and productive.
Depths are around 2.4m on average and range from 1m on a plateau to 4.5m at its deepest. There is weed in the lake, and so it suits anglers comfortable with this, however there are clear areas.
There are also some poisson chat and crayfish, as with many lakes in France. These don't seem to cause an issue but you should always go prepared with something in your tackle box just in case - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France.
