Details of your catches:

Tough week with only 7 fish landed. 24lb, 29lb, 31lb, 34lb, 42lb, 44lb & 63lb Sturgeon.

Had lots of knocks and screaming runs, but proved very difficult to hook.

Made us re-think tactics and try different presentations and approaches, Mark spent time with us helping us with rigs etc.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

All fish caught on boilie, Cell/Essential Cell. Glugged boilie seemed to work best, critically balanced.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as per website. No surprises.

Shower was hot, toilet facilities in shower block and static caravan were ok.

Were you happy with them?

Yes.

We did bring a generator for power/charging etc as there is no electricity, although Debbie does offer to charge any batteries and bring ice packs. (Local shops do not sell ice).

Yes

General Comments:

A tough lake for sure, but addictive to the point it kept you trying to out fox the fish, which for us was the attraction. They definitely pick up your bait, mouth it and then quickly reject it.

Water level was down by about 2ft, which did make some of the swims a bit harder to manage bait boats, netting/releasing fish etc. (4, 6 & 8). You will need waders.

Swims down the bottom end, 4,5 & 6 produced all fish and at night the water was alive with big crashing and jumping about, quieter during the day.

Apart from the 24lb fish, all our fish was caught at night, Sturgeon just as it was getting light, so be prepared. (1am through to 8am) and then the lake went quiet as the sun came up.

Overall a great week, we did make it a social event too, so probably not as quiet as we could have been and on reflection that probably did effect the margin fishing.

We have all said that we would go back and have learnt so much from this trip.

Details of your catches:

We landed 26 fish biggest 41lb, 24lb8oz, 24lb04oz, 21lb and 22 fish around 2lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fish in Villefond are super clever, our best results came from single popped up corn using solid bags

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities are in need of a update, both charging stations in shed do not work (owner did take power pack home and charge for us) lighting need improving. Mobile home fridge and freezer not working needed battery's changing over all very basic.

*Owner's note* Sadly, due to Villefond's rural positioning there is no electric at the lake. We make this clear on the website (and in this case also in an email to you prior to your trip). We are however always happy to take things to charge for you at the house. The solar powered charging facilities in the shed are merely an added 'extra' as their use is entirely dependent on how much sun we get and so we do not advertise these as a reliable source of power anywhere on the page. When told the Fridge was not working we checked and it had been turned off. Easily rectified at the time but we do apologise for the inconvenience.

Were you happy with them?

Food package very good, owners very good helping charge our power banks.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

I would only recommend this venue to anglers that are willing to row there baits out or have bait boats as swims need some TLC and casting to Margins impossible from bank in some of the swims. Also I highly recommend you book the venue exclusive as fish hold in deeper end of lake and only move up shallow end during night.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Angling lines was a great way to book our holiday so yes I would definitely recommend and use again my self.

General Comments:

Water level low due to lack if rain over the year at villefond so if you're fishing peg 7 and 8 you will need to wade out to land fish, peg 1,2 and 3 very uneven close to water be careful landing fish.

There are some cracking fish in this lake but they do not move around lake in the day so if you are unlucky and have shallow end best advice I can give is sleep in the day and fish nights.
