After a few days of blanking, Mark showed me how to make up the Villefond rig that he uses and recommends to all the anglers that fish there.

The facilities were excellent. Plenty of space in shower cabin, nice and clean and the shower was brilliant !

General Comments:

On arriving to find that my wife and I were the only ones on the lake for the week (perhaps the Rugby had something to do with that !) I felt really lucky ....how wrong can you be. It would seem that the fish had other ideas and decided to take a rest over the other side of the lake making the fishing far more difficult that I had anticipated.

Thanks to Mark and John I managed to catch 3 nice fish. Mark went out of his way and spent a lot of time with me showing me how to make the 'Villefond' rig; clearly the fish on this lake are very spooked by anything that is unusual. Mark designed this rig so that nothing could be seen or felt by the fish. As this was not my normal way of fishing it was a few days into the week before I learnt that.

Although I only caught 3 fish I am extremely happy with that, especially to catch an 88lb+ catfish on a piece of maize with a size 8 hook. John visited us every day and brought along ice packs (supplied by Debbie, thankyou) so that we could keep our food fresh. All in all, a superb week. Villefond is a lovely venue and Mark, John & Debbie are very welcoming and helpful, thankyou.

Excellent venue a little tricky at times but just adapt your approach and all will be well. Lake owners cant do enough for you - really pleasant. Thanks very much
