Only my son fished, he caught 60 fish, average 20lbs, largest 28lbs. He was delighted.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Clean and basic in the lodge. Could do with a couple of basic beds as opposed to the sofa beds. Also a plug in the sink. But apart from that it was great and right by the action

Were you happy with them?

Owners were very friendly. The farm and lake are immaculate. The local area for a non-fisherman like me was interesting. The local café is open from 7 am and serves very good French coffee!

General Comments:

A great week, don't let the travelling distance put you off this lake. My son chose it, not so much for the size of fish but the quantity he might catch. It really lived up to expectation. we met other fisherman on the ferry back who'd been to a lake with bigger fish and they'd caught nothing, saying it was too hot!

Details of your catches:

During our week we fished for approx six hours per day, catching fish fairly constantly through the day. Biggest fish out was 27lb 14oz the smallest was around 8lb, with a good mix of mirror and common mostly mid twenties.

I think we worked out that between the five of us, we had banked around 1800lb of fish. We had rain some days, it didn't affect the fishing, they still kept feeding.

General Comments:

We arrived and took our first look at the lake, it looked really great. We met the owner Alice and her mother, both of whom were very welcoming and offering us any assistance we might need. As soon as we were settled into the excellent comfortable accommodation, we got on with the reason for our visit "Carp fishing".

I can say that we had a really good time and thanks to Alice and family for their hospitality, we also had an evening out and went to the "Le Trois Perdrix" in the town. Many Thanks to Ross and Carole and the staff made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, on top of that the food was superb and very reasonably priced. Carole very Kindly took a few minutes to take a group photo for us to mark our holiday. Thanks also to Angling lines for the professional handling of our booking.

Were the facilities what you expected?

We were in the Gite farm cottage rather than the lakeside lodge. Alice was very helpful as she thought we were booked in the lakeside lodge which is not suitable for a family.

General Comments:

Very lovely setting and it was just unfortunate that the weather was not kind to us

Details of your catches:

We had 60 fish between us biggest was 28lb 10oz with 16 x 20’s, 13 doubles and the rest smaller. Also a 4lb 4oz tench, bream, roach and rudd.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Normally the Rahja boilies work well here but didn’t for us, we found the larger boilies didn’t catch but 2 x 10mm Quest Pineapple boilies they did like. We also used the method feeder with one 10mm pineapple boilies and pineapple action pellets in with the pellet mixed.
We fished the area next to the lodge in the mornings and evenings the rest of the day we moved along the dam wall using both sides of the willow. A couple of afternoons we went down to the shallow end of the lake and caught quite a few of the smaller fish here either side of the island.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The lakeside lodge is great to use and has all you need in the kitchen area, the fish seem to know when you are trying to cook a meal as the rods always screamed off at these times  The bed settee’s were OK for a couple of nights but a strain on the back after a week. We did not use the pool as the weather changed on Monday and we had storms, rain and wind for a few days and then Friday was a great sunny day. The bathroom facilities are just the other side of the pool and have everything you need with lots of hot water, all was very clean and tidy.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Vincons is a great water for easy action and lots of space. A lovely family venue with pool and the gite which is just through the farm yard has all the facilities for a great family holiday.

As I work for Angling lines I feel that fishing the lakes is a great way to get a proper feel for the venues and enables me to give the anglers a real insight into the lakes and with the anglers feedback, in depth information, lake video’s on our web site you always ‘get what it says on the box’.

General Comments:

My partner has not fished for large carp before (as he is normally a match angler) and found the bigger fish a handful to try and hold as they were very energetic on the bank but he soon got the hang of it and had a great time. The 27lb’er he had broke his rod end , I had to wade in with the net to get the fish but it was worth it, panic over it was all smiles on the bank with the fish. We had the lake to ourselves and enjoyed trying different spots and tactics. It is only a couple of minutes to the local village of Lignieres where the Carr for supermarket is and also restaurant and shops, we had a lovey day in the Loire valley visiting a couple of chateaux’s and villages with the camera but did not really want to spend too much time away from the fishing. We were lucky to have an Osprey stay with us for the week who also fished the lake catching roach and small fish a short distance away from us fishing. Also keep an eye out for the wild boar they were feeding in the maize field at the end of the dam wall and then going back into the forest on the other side.
