Had a very good week at Vincons. Me and my daughter fished only days. My daughter only fished the odd time and had some good fish. Best being a common fo 31lb 2oz. For the 6 days as I did not fish the Saturday I had a total of 58 fish for 1183lb 4.oz including my biggest fish a common of 31lb 12oz.
Also had some nice roach and tench.
Also had a surprise when I was fishing 15 yards out with a small method feeder on my quiver tip for roach when a 25lb mirror carp picked up the bait. Was quite a battle on the rod with only 9lb line and a size 14 hook. After around 15 minutes and multiple runs to the middle of the lake I managed to land it. I feel like I could have caught more but was struggling to keep 3 rods in the water. Had multiple double takes and even a treble take. I noted a lot of the fish looked like they were ready to spawn. The weather was due to get better on the Wednesday and sure enough the fish started spawning. I still fished and just fished to the middle of the lake and still managed to catch.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fruit tella pop ups and pineapple pop ups fished over boillies corn pellets tiger nuts and glugs. No problem with crayfish this time.

Yeah facilities fine. Well looked after.

General Comments:

Vincons is a lovely place very peaceful and tranquil in a lovely town. Alice is a great host and will help with anything needed.

Details of your catches:

We had 123 carp from 3lb upto 27lb 8oz. We also had plenty of small carp, roach and rudd on the feeder.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We caught on anything we tried including wafters, snowmen rigs and even 4 or 5 bottom baits to try pick out bigger fish. We used DNA slk and bug boilies and pellet as feed.

General Comments:

We fished from the dam wall across to the far margin near the trees. We only used 6 rods between us as we struggled to even keep those in the water. We had double, triple and even quadruple hookups. We only fished days and had a problem with our baitboat half way into the week or we would have caught lots more. Its a lovely venue and great to teach the kids. The kids loved the pool as well. A few bigger fish would be nice but the non stop action made up for that.

Details of your catches:

We caught at least 150 carp in two weeks, weights between 8kg (17lb) and 14.5kg (31lb).
Nice strong fish, good condition. They really show where they are.
We caught very well against the trees across the water. And in the bowl right in front of the house. Our bait was flokisbaitsofficial and worked incredibly well.
Of the 14 days we did not fish three and never fished at night. Certainly not necessary here with an average of 20 fish per day.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Bollies on a bed of pellets.
D rigs and combi rigs were the favourite.
Orange popups and yellow popups were definitely the favourites.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Cottage and shower room are perfect. Everything is there to cook yourself.
Alice is a super sweet woman who will do everything to make your holiday fantastic.

Were you happy with them?

It was more than we expected. Often you read the reviews and it still disappoints. Well not here!! If you want a lot of action in a fantastic location, you really have to go here.

I caught 45 "adult" carp with a total of 880 lbs.
2 fish 30 lbs
4 fish 25 lbs - 30 lbs
17 fish 20 lbs - 25 lbs
12 fish 15 lbs - 20 lbs
10 fish 10 lbs - 20 lbs
Also caught 12 young carp weighing around 2-3 lbs

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fished boilies over hemp and halibut pellets. About 50 yards out, in front of the chalet.
Boilies were in for sometimes hours, never had an issue with crayfish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

This was our second visit. We were here also last year. The facilities have even improved.
The chalet now has 2 comfortable beds and the new annex is excellent.
The bathroom is refurbished, with a new walk-in rainfall shower. It has even a washing machine.
The kitchen in the chalet had a brand new fridge with freezer.

General Comments:

Alice and the whole Bouchot family are very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are beautiful. The swimming pool is a refreshing change in the hot afternoon.
Since our last visit, the larger carp have not grown (the average weight then was 22 lbs, now 19 lbs.).
Last year we didn't catch any young carp. They are a big feeding competition for the adult. I think it would be better to remove these smaller and young carp, so the larger carp have the chance to gain weight.

Anyway, we will be back.
