Details of your catches:

We doubled up on peg 6. We had a few fish between us despite it being the worst weather I've had on a frence trip. The commons being 32-37lb and one above the magical 50lb mark.we ended the week with:
9 x commons to 55lb 6oz
2 x mirrors to 45lb 8oz
7 x grassies to 42lb 4oz
1 x tench

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We used fake corn and tigers as there was A LOT of crayfish. We did use snowmen which produced the 50 but the majority came to the corn and tigers. We also stayed away from the gravel and only fished the soft and silty patches.

Were the facilities what you expected?

To be honest for a drive and survive there ok, fridge and freezer great, big and plenty of room. The toilet and shower could do with rethinking. Toilet very small, I'm not a big guy and I found it small. The shower room floor is bad when wet and it gets very wet.

Were you happy with them?

As above ok for a drive and survive but could do a lot more and make it a lot better.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

It was recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend it to others. It is a awesome looking lake and I hope it recovers from what has happened.
*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. The additional stocking of 200 carp has now taken place (November '24) and the details can be seen on the latest news.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

As always A/L service was great keeping us informed and up to date as best they could. Deffo recommended

General Comments:

If you like sharing your bivvy with crayfish, this is the place to go.
Jokes aside all in all lovely place to fish, big pegs, park in swim, nice size lake with big fish in. Could do with cabin update but has everything you need.

Details of your catches:

We fished peg 2 my father in law on the left side and me on the right
I had 5 grass carp to 45lb and my father had two carp just under 30lb mine were all day bites his were both at night

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We struggled a bit but the bites came on a variety of baits , pop ups wafters bottom baits over a bed of spod they were just not infront of us this week , all down the the deeper water. We forgot our deeper which you need the marker float doesn’t tell the whole story , but it didn’t seem to bother the fish the spombing so bait boats srent essential as it’s not fishing at range. Make sure you have sharp hooks and aggressive rigs as the constantly spit rigs are whole group of 7 were getting aborted runs all week. Swim 7 left side and 9-11 had all the fish infront all week and rarely did they show in the shallow end but the wind was easterly all week and high pressure

Were the facilities what you expected?

The lake is absolutely stunning and the surroundings so we will definitely be returning, the town is a short trip ( 5 mins away ) big Intermarche with everything you need and more.

Were you happy with them?

The facilities on site are good for drive and survive , we ve done 4 trips like this before and it’s usual , plug sockets for charging fridges and freezers , really needs a microwave though and the toilet and shower are small so really need to be bigger.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

DEFINITLEY it’s a great fishery , it’s not easy at the moment after the fish kill earlier this year and its lake that gets you thinking with all the changes in depth and features which I like, the fish are in great condition and give a great fight as well

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Angling lines always go above and beyond and we will use them again definitely and recommend to others all the time

General Comments:

Would love to see the restocking happen this winter , spoke with David about it when we were there and the lake will be back to its best then, I d like to see some work on some of the swims to make them safer for the anglers and the fish and the big sturgeon needs to come out it’s a pest , crayfish ? sometimes bothered our baits but some simple traps would regular reduce there numbers and the rats the same , we expect wildlife as it’s nature but it’s easy to control them , our club in England does it well on a weekly basis.
The vassuer family david Cyril and Sebastian were all brilliant , lovely people and we asked them for anything and they sorted it.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Vast majority of fish were caught in the deep water (16-18 feet).
A mixture of baits were used. Tigernuts and boilies being the most successful. Rigs were Ronnie's and combo's.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. Plenty of fridge and freezer space

Were you happy with them?

Shower was small but always had hot water so was good.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, in a few years time. There are vast numbers of crayfish in the lake and caused a problem if you didn't wrap your baits and the margins are pretty much un-fishable! The big sturgeon is also a huge problem, 4 times people got snapped off trying to land it!

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, angling lines have been helpful and quick to communicate all the problems that have occurred to the lake.

General Comments:

I think there definitely needs to be more done to clear some of the crayfish out of the lake and the big sturgeon needs to be removed before we'd return. However we did have a great week and with all the fish deaths that occurred, we did better than I thought we would have.
