My wife Kathryn had a new pb, 54lb common, I had a 43lb common, and a pb 61lb sturgeon.
Kathryn had 6 carp, and lost 2 and lost a massive sturgeon, I had 5 carp and 1 sturgeon, and lost 3 to hook pulls

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

DNA S7 & SLK boilies, lake pellet, and hemp/maize mix in a bait boat, SLK or S7 hard hookers, and mainline morrocan spice pop ups, or DNA baits PB pop up, fished snowman style, lead clip and 8'' coated braid hooklink to a size 4 ridgemonkey curve

Were the facilities what you expected?

We have been here before, so knew what to expect, sadly, nothing has changed in the 6 years since our last visit, still 1 small toilet, and a shower that's a bit lacking considering there could be up to 10 anglers, lucky for us that we were in our motorhome, so had our own facilities.

Were you happy with them?

Not really, definitely need a 2nd shower and toilet. The fridge and freezer were adequate

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, as the lake has some excellent fish, although id prefer if there were also some catfish, just my personal opinion, as they're not everyone's cup of tea

General Comments:

I would like to say thank to Cyril, there was a tree down in swim 10, making it unfishable, but he turned up Mon morning and took care of it, he also booked us our vets appointment for our dogs worming treatment.
We did have a hornets nest to the left side of our swim(8), although we were assured that it wasn't dangerous, I'm allergic, so had a few issues, particularly at night, where the hornets were attracted to the headlamps.

General Comments:

Big problem with crayfish in lake. You think you have a take but it's crayfish sometimes tested this out in shallow water where I could see the bait

Electric kept tripping due to french guy and his family running an extension lead 150 yards to his swim, door lock on shower broken so couldn't lock the door

Yes 100%, I have used angling lines many times and always get a great service

General Comments:

Good points... The carp are very hard fighting fish and some are in great condition... It's a stunning looking lake and has some nice features to fish too...
Bad points... The big sturgeon is a pain as it's constantly getting hooked but snaps you off every time. I woke up a couple of mornings to find crayfish in my bivvy even found a couple on the road way behind the swims, definitely wrap your baits because there are thousands of them, swims need some sort of landing/releasing platform due to low water levels and rocky margins. The swim was littered with cigarette buts and bottle lids and burn patches from fires unfortunately for us when we arrived a french guy and his family had already arrived and set up in peg 3 without doing the draw or waiting for everyone to arrive for a walk around, he pretty much took up that half the lake with his bait boat, his 2 children were swimming and wading in and out of the lake which made the fishing hard for us as we was in peg 6 so all the fish spooked to the other side of the lake, I believe this could be a great lake but needs some TLC. The shower door lock is broken so couldn't lock the door, another guy was there with his daughter and the french guy walked in whilst she was showering so they felt uncomfortable and left early, 2nd time at Blue lake and shame to say it's gone downhill since my last visit 3 years ago
