Our second visit to Blue lake didn't disappoint we opted for peg 6 with 2 other anglers opting for peg 10. We landed 35 fish and lost 10. Most bites came at night, picking the odd 1 up through the day as temperatures hit 30c most days

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Bottom baits and pop ups, crayfish were very active, so I would reset the rods every 4 hours, most of the time the bait was gone.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Basic but all you need could do with updating, plenty of freezer space and fridge.

General Comments:

Overall lake needs some TLC. There were broken beer bottles in 3 pegs and hundreds of cigarette buts as well. We did mention this to the owner on arrival but it was still there when we left.

All caught. Mostly grass carp up to 47lb, mirror to 45lb, with sturgeon to 67lb. Around 35 fish in total.

Yellow wafters over lots of bait.

Was a very hard week, we believe the carp were spawning hence the huge amount of grasses. But we all said would love to come back

Good week 5x50s up to 59.8, 3x57s to 57.8 and a 51, couple more also to 49.8, sturgeon 60lb

General Comments:

Cyril and David were great hosts, see you every couple of days and leave you to get on with your fishing but are on the phone if you need anything, nice guys. There is a lot of grass carp so would recommended bringing spare net mesh’s
