Mark fished swim 1 which was the deepest water, had 12 runs and landed 10 Carp heaviest
being 43lb, Peter being myself, swim 2 had 13 runs lost 9 due to cut branches in swim, 2 Carp, 1 Bream and a roach and my heaviest Carp 23lb, Aaron swim 3 had 4 runs landed 4 Carp heaviest being 30lb.

Were the facilities what you expected?

We had some fly hatches in the kitchen but this issue has since been taken care of.

General Comments:

To be honest in my opinion the fishery is totally run down and looks nothing like the pictures i seen and videos i watched on U Tube, the only swim on the lake thats safe to fish on the Carps point of view is swim 1, swim 2 which i fished was a right off due all the rotten cut branches in the water were the Carp jumped on a regular basis, the problem being every single tree had been cut down on the opposite bank and clearly the branches had been cut and fell in the water before the trees were chopped down, causing me to loose most of the fish i hooked so instead of landing a Carp i landed a branch or was snapped off, over and above that the complete fishery is in a sad state due to the lack of trees and shade for the fish, all in all very disappointed with my fishing trip to La Fonte.

*Angling Lines note* We have spoken to the customer about this feedback and fully appreciate his opinion. We discussed the branches with owner Philippe who has now spent more time to remove branches from the far side of the lake as well as a big trunk in the water along the side of swim 2.

Peg 2 Carl/ Mark - 9 fish, 58lb 9oz new lake record, others to 37lb 7oz.
Peg 3 Lee - 13 fish to 44lb, 7 high 30’s.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Very hot days, water temp was 28oc by end of the week, had to work for them, spots had moved from last year, only caught late evening/early morning.
Various Rigs, bottom bait, wafters, popups all worked.
Caught off light and heavily baited areas.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes great, also the shower upgraded from last year is a great improvement.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, clean and adequate for a week away fishing.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

As an overall yes, very rural area, good facilities. Average size of fish is very good, but far from easy. Food Package and Hospitality from Joanne is excellent.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, Angling Lines have been excellent the past 2 years and can’t fault the service at all, highly recommended. The lake has visually changed dramatically and maybe arriving customers could have been made aware of this a lot sooner.

General Comments:

We had a great week, all PB's broken. As returning anglers to La Fonte we couldn’t wait to return. We had heard about the extensive tree work from anglers that arrived in March. We fish for carp not trees, but can’t deny that this has affected the holding areas for the fish. There is also an unfishable channel past peg 3 in which a lot of the stock hold up in, we recommended last year that this could be blocked off but still remains open. I will return when the lake has grown back it’s maturity.

35 + fish from mid 20s to 42.8lb. Lost multiple also

Deep end was a rod length off bank all around, but also caught mid water, shallows tight to back bank, just off rope. Also showing fish

Yes, very good facilities. Food package is amazing no need to buy food

Yes very happy, Joanne was amazing, food is brilliant. Phillippe made us feel very at home.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes perfect venue for lake exclusive up to 5 people, quiet, undisturbed, plenty of hard fighting carp, 99% were over 23lb, felt very welcome! And knowing there's a mid 50 common in there I want to come back 😲

We have suggested to phillippe about a extra boat so either end has one, there are a few snags there, and the fish love them 😦
