Angling Lines were fantastic! Because of travel restrictions last year our trip was pushed back a year without any cost or consequence.
We also made three changes to our crossings which was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

General Comments:

Collectively within our group we have visited over 25 French lakes and we all agreed that Laroussi is up there with one of the most attractive.

Studying the lake on Google earth before we left didn’t do the scenery justice. Medhi the lake owner, has allowed the tree lined margins to mature meaning that all but one swim has enough shade even in the burning summer sun.

Every swim allows you to look for the features they possess. Whether it’s the extensive gravel bars that run through the lake bottom or the tree lined margins, there’s enough options to keep you thinking.

As with every review, we can only verify all the niceties mentioned about Medhi. Friendly, always spoke with a smile, enthusiastic and helpful. When he offers some advise listen!

As for the fishing, the lake has had many cats and grassies under 50lb removed meaning there’s more bait for the resident carp to eat and hopefully they can push on with their weight. I see this lake in transition. By French standards, there isn’t enough carp 50lb + yet to be get away with being a low stocked big fish lake. As what every good fishery manager should do, Medhi has a stock pond with fully scaled and liners waiting to be transferred when they’re big enough so watch this space!

The 40c heat that greeted us on our first day was the first indicator of how battered by the weather we’d be by the end of the week! Storms hit much of Northern France and it felt like we were caught in the middle of it. But for some of our stay we had text book “Carpy” weather - mild, cloudy and a slight breeze/low ish pressure. The carp responded by showing themselves predominantly in out of reach casting areas.

Bite times were early in the mornings but a late switch to zigs by the end of the week managed to yield some rewards before darkness fell.

Advice would be to take a bike as most swims are a fair way from the facilities, listen to Medhi and don’t ignore zigs.

I would. Angling lines offered a very professional service and it was nice that someone always answers the phone and answers any questions which is rare these days. The lake owner Mehdi was so helpful and i am very grateful how he treated my two young sons who came with me.

Having such a relaxed and nice lake owner really made our trip. I fished the lake a few years ago with some friends and he was the same then. What a lovely chap.

The winning formula on every lake.....Mainline Cell critically balanced with a yellow pineapple pop up also double pop up sweetcorn over beds of party mix and pellet.

General Comments:

Overall a difficult week due to soaring temperstures, high pressure and very little wind. Fishing was slow with 3 of our party blanking including me. I moved pegs halfway through the week but still no runs. That said 3 of us did ok with 3 huge Grass Carp coming out. The pictures do not do these fish justice, they are huge. The fight of the week though came from a mid 20s common....20 minutes in the early hours. Andy G had the Point and as ever never gave up deserving himself top spot for the trip. Mick as usually sat quietly with a fag on zero then went to hero in a second with the fish of the week. 60lb Grass Carp. Wildlife was just amazing with Golden Orioles calling through the day, Hobbies hunting at Dusk and Nightingales singing at night. A fantastic holiday and a wonderful atmosphere around the lake which was helped by our new friend Dave and his lovely wife on Peg 7. A real team effort which was helped by Medhi pointing with precision every spot. One of the best holidays Ive had.

White pop up, over small to medium beds of bait, and scattered bollies did ok as well when fished to open water

General Comments:

Have to say Medhi the owner was absolutely brilliant, greated us first day, if we needed anything we just asked and he would be there, apart from that left us alone to get on with it. The venue swims where clean and tidy well set out, so as not tripping over each other, and water is clear so all in all great place and I will be looking to book again.
