General Comments:

First the negatives 1) Mehdi is a lovely chap. Always smiling and happy but if you're looking for an owner who comes round everyday you'll be disappointed. He didnt come round all week even when asked. 2) there was confusion regarding the peg draw. We ended up not having one, upsetting the other party that came. 3) l'anse and le chene pegs were both casting to la pointe. Unsure about peg bounderies. 4) on the friday an angler thought it would be okay to send a bait boat with sonar on a recce mission over le pointe swim. Now the positives: 1) A beautiful lake in stunning surroundings. 2) some very big fish 3) good facilities Overview: An enjoyable week even with the problems we had. A very hard water. If you're after runs then dont book laroussi. If you're prepared to blank and are happy to sit it out for a big fish then its worth giving it a go. **Owner's note** I am saddened to read this as I talked to the anglers on the lake several times throughout the week - sometimes at the facilities, sometimes biking or walking around the lake to bait up. If there was a time I did not visit when asked then I believe this is down to a mis-communication. Regarding L'anse and Le Chene pegs casting to La Pointe, I was not notified of this during the week. The angler on L'anse was one of the Buckley party and I do not believe that Le Chene could cast to La Pointe as there was also one angler on the next peg, Le Bouleau. If there are ever problems with swim areas then I urge anglers to come to me with any problems at the time. Thankfully this does not happen very often but I would always do my best to resolve any issues there and then. Regarding the swim draw, this was arranged on the day and I spoke to the other party.

Details of your catches:

Very few fish caught, it did 6 fish the week previous, Medhi put it down to weather. We caught 8 between five. My first fish was on the Monday in Le Anse, 46.8 common, had a 16 and 17 common also. Very hard lake if inexperienced, especially when weather not ideal. Small cats are very much in evidence.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I caught on bottom baits but i wonder if zigs would have been better, plenty of aeriel displays and fish in upper layers due to heat etc, water was 22 degrees.

Were the facilities what you expected?

They were ok

Were you happy with them?

I rarely used them, they were fine for others

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Only if they were prepared to sit it out and wait for the big fish

General Comments:

It was a tough week, i have carp fished for over 30 years, this was my 20th french trip and it had me scratching my head. I think the high temperatures, water temperature, high pressure and humidity may have played a major part in the lack of action. Very slow week, very frustrating but I did learn something for if I returned. Medhi was a great bloke.

Details of your catches:

14 fish mostly Grass Carp 3 over 40lb biggest of 47lb. 1 common 43lb and 1 Mirror 48.7lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Large beds of bait meant you had to wait a long time for bites. We found 3-5 spombs over a tight area on gravel patches worked the best. Fish showed all day and all night at range over 200yrds. 7 fishermen on the lake in total caught over 30 fish. Match the hatch boilies worked well, Ronnie Rigs and multi Rigs worked best. IQD Rigs did not.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes fantastic facilities.

Were you happy with them?

More than happy

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

General Comments:

Great week, gorgeous lake now I know a bit more about the lake I would love to have another go for the Giants that are in this lake. And take pellets next time for the big sturgeon! Definitely didn't need to take 30kg of bait.
