About the Lake
Le Sauci measures in at around 12 acres and is characterised by mature surrounding vegetation and two peninsulas extending into the water. These natural features create a varied shape with sheltered bays and productive areas. The lake was originally excavated in the early 1990s and depths range from approximately 0.8-2.2m, with an average depth of around 1.5m.
The lakebed consists predominantly of clay. There have been no signs of crayfish or poisson chat and the weed is treated each year to keep it under control. Historically, the Aisne River flowed through this area before its course was diverted. The former riverbed remains in the centre of the lake and now acts as a feeding hotspot for the carp. There are some snags and underwater branches which you will need to be aware of when choosing your spots.
