Were the facilities what you expected?

More than, excellent.  Very clean, welcoming and lots of kit for cooking, dishwasher, plus fridge/freezer.  Tabs and other products for cleaning and dishwasher were available.  Two toilets and two bathroom/shower rooms.  Lovely veranda overlooking the water, with outdoors seating and table.

General Comments:

Lots and lots of wildlife, good habitat creation.  Very quiet location, easy to get too and not too far from local amenities, petrol station, supermarket etc.  Owners were super helpful and have put lots of effort into getting the lake to a high standard.

fished swim 2 and 3 had over 20 fish between us, best 35+ common but mostly doubles lost 10 fish due to locked up hit and hold tactics used because of the server snags

My homemade boilies with the lake house pellets, I spomded bait where my brother used bait boat. Both methods worked, spombing on this week had the upper edge for us

Bit more then expected very clean, maybe an electric toaster and air fryer make it even better

Have done, go for a cabin, less tackle to bring, lot more water to fish than the bivvy swims

General Comments:

General - the place is very nice quiet easy to find, supermarket 20min drive. Unfortunately due to 2 years of draught and hot weather the water levels very very low, speak from fishing swim 3 I had max 2ft depth to inches in my margin, waders had to be put on to land fish. The far margin (80 yards) snags are a problem, lot of branches hanging in water with broken off laying on the bottom as well, to the right reed line old tree stumps, thats why locked up hit old tactics used, clear markers showing swim boundary would help especially when bait boat are allowed. Would I go back, yes, but I would opt for a cabin swim just for amount water fishable in them swims.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We had early success on hinged stiff rigs and fishmeal pop ups fished at around ¾ range.
After that the weather turned very hot and we targeted the far margin shallows under the shade of the trees fishing snowman rigs of Thierry's Prune Spice boilies topped with red, pink and yellow pop ups over particle sourced from Thierry. In the hot weather the bites mainly came at night although we were able to get a few daytime bites from the snaggy area to the right of the chalet.
The old river bed also proved productive when baited accurately. All of the bigger fish came from the far margin or the river bed.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The chalet was exceptional. The aircon was able to cope with 38 degrees of heat and was required both at night and during the day. The beds are extremely comfortable and a receiver placed on the en suite window ledge easily wakes you for a short hop down to the rods. Absolutely no requirement to bivvy up unless fishing tight to snags. The kitchen is well kitted out with nice touches such as a coffee machine with provided pods. There is no oven so anglers should prepare to either hob cook, microwave or barbecue on the provided barbecue. The toilets and both showers are really new and very clean. The provision of a boat in every swim is a great touch and proved invaluable for retrieving snagged fish and placing baits.
The stoned area to the front of the chalet is a good surface to fish from but it makes getting bank sticks in a challenge. Would strongly advise either very long extendable bank sticks or a pod.

General Comments:

The venue has a great mix of big fish but enough fish in the lake to keep bites coming when conditions are really tough.
There appears to be a small Crayfish presence so this may need to factor into your planning. Being confident with a boat or baitboat will help your chances. The lake has a lot of tree branch snags in the shallow areas and If I were going again I would definitely bring chest waders to help clear some of these. Overall the lake is in a great setting, the swims do not interfere with each other and there is wildlife everywhere. A very relaxed week.
