Details of your catches:

only 2 people fished and we only really a few hours a day. We caught about 20 fish up to 29lb. For the amount of time we fished was happy with results

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tiger nuts under the willow tree, that way the poisson chat left you alone

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were spot on, exactly what we expected

Were you happy with them?

Details of your catches:

Grass Carp (14.10, 15.10), Mirror (13.10, 15.07, 17.06, 25.03, 30.01), Common (19.11, 17.03, 22.10, 29.11) lost around 3 or 4. Only fished a few hours morning & evenings.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Brought around 15kg of boilies with me, caught using either 2 x 15mm baits in snowman setup, 2 x 15mm pop-ups or 24mm - thought these would stop the Poisson Chat but they will eat anything so ended up being good sport for the kids! As the weather was so hot, all the fish were stacked in the shallow end of the lake, caught 2 using traditional methods, the rest were caught stalking either off the top or free-lined boilies with a handful of freebies near the snags/under overhanging trees. Korda Armo-mesh is essential! crayfish love a boilie on a hair!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were awesome, the house is traditional, rustic French which is just perfect. Swimming pool was a massive bonus as we spent most days lounging round in the heat! The area is very peaceful and the perfect place to relax.

Were you happy with them?

definitely

General Comments:

Sharon & Gilles were wonderful hosts, Gilles really knows his lakes so make sure you listen to his advice. They were easy to get hold of if we ever needed anything and nothing was too much trouble! Sharon gave us some excellent places to visit with the kids which was a real bonus and meant we all got to enjoy the region. We can't wait to go back and are looking forward to our next visit to Mas Bas!

Details of your catches:

Caught loads of fish, wrote down 50+ but I guess I had over 60 . I fished just mornings and evenings most days. Evenings were crazy, couldn't keep 3 rods in the water and I'd had enough by 10pm. Most fish were 20 plus, several 28s, 29s and 30s. Plenty of repeats so I think I had most of them. Some great looking fish, had a lovely koi and a fully scaled that looked like it had never been caught. Grass carp were a bit of a pain (I've never liked them much) but they were active all day. Best carp was 32lb and had it 3 times in 4 days. Biggest grass carp was 26lb, had it several times too. My daughter had the 26 grass too, for some reason she declined a photo with it.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I took my own boilies but due to very high numbers of possoin chat I used tigers and the bait boat. Even with just a couple of handfuls per rod I got through nearly 20kg. Fish were not showing but were clearly in the shallows due to the amount of mud they were digging up. During the morning it was mainly grass carp, but from 5 or 6pm the carp started feeding and it just went crazy. 2 or 3 fish on at once several times. Bottom of the lake is very soft clay and it's very shallow so the bait boat worked best. Casting 70 yards with 4oz leads into 2ft of water with a soft bottom isn't a good idea. If I wasn't so lazy I could have set up much nearer the fish and just fished 5 to 10 yds out, but the BBQ, fridge and electric lights kept me near the house. Watch out for the big snag right in front of the platform, didn't lose any fish but had my net a few times. Looks like an old concrete lampost with steel poking out.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Pool was great, house was lovely rustic France, lakeside area was great. Cat was friendly, but deaf.
