Mixture of commons & mirrors 38 fish caught, total weight 664lb, lost 21 fish

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Stiff fluro carbon so the hair can't move too much, as I found the fish I lost every time the boilie which was wrapped in armo mesh was caught over hook point. Probably due to the small cats keep picking up the bait. Boilies used were bait works monster red & royal marine 18mm.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes had everything we needed.

General Comments:

We had 2 weeks at Mas Bas. The journey is long however well worth it. Beautiful surroundings, the pool was excellent we all loved it. The fishing was good the weather was excellent mainly 30 degrees every day. The house has every thing you need and is very clean also the area is so peaceful.

Plenty of wildlife we did see some deer, kingfisher, wood pecker. Gilles was very helpful we did have one issue and Gilles did his upmost and got it sorted. We wanted to book next year same time but dates have already gone. Good luck to Gilles & Sharon, we will be back, loved it.

Details of your catches:

Very much under fished and should have had a lot more fish. This was due mainly to me suffering from heart failure and consequently was recovering for two days from the two day drive from Caen. Two caught, two lost, not particularly big but good fighters never the less. Common Carp 16lb 4oz, Goldfish 13lb 4oz.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Quest baits Rajah Spice, and Gilles' own boillies. Both hair rigged with a large floating fake sweetcorn tip.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Having been several times before we knew what to expect and as usual were not disappointed.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, extremely happy.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Without doubt. Especially someone with a family who are not necessarily into fishing. The remoteness of the venue, and the walks, and peace and quiet, and the availability of the swimming pool all go toward making this an all round family venue. The local town is only 15 minutes drive away and has everything needed, Supermarket, Pizza House, and Restaurant.

Yes. I have done several times.

Although I was very ill at the time, it was still a relaxing holiday.

Lots of fish to 30lb, all fish in prestine condition and really hard fighting

Boilie bottom baits topped with 10mm bait

Nice clean and pleasant, everything you need to make your stay enjoyable

Yes the overall condition was very good, the kids really had a fantastic time and spent most of it in the garden and pool area

Yes we would like to go back at some time

Details of your catches:

430lbs fish. Average weight 21lbs. Largest 31lbs, 2x30lbs. Very satisfactory. Fished 5 evenings for 3 or 4 hours and 2 mornings for 3 hours. Used 3 active rods.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Boilies supplied by Gilles very satisfactory. Tried others from local shop but no better result. Used a bait boat to access water under left and right hand willow trees.

Many good fish in the shallow area by the islands can be easily accessed with free lined snowman boilies but controlling the running fish is difficult

Were the facilities what you expected?

Accommodation is clean but basic. Facilities adequate. Location is superb. A great place to fish and relax. Finding the place initially greatly facilitated by using coordinates on google maps sat nav

Were you happy with them?

Yes. Great welcome from Gilles who is always very helpful

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, to a couple who wish to combine some fishing and some sightseeing. Serious fishermen and families with children should book the main lake

General Comments:

Angling lines should increase their promotion of fly drive and tackle hire on this location. Saving a gruelling drive and hiring good tackle is a great option to this location!
