General Comments:

I loved Sky Lake so much, I re-booked for next year before I left! It is the perfect carp fishing lake. Andy, Bernie and Rob are amongst the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet.

I would describe Sky lake as: made by anglers, for anglers - you are treated like a fellow angler and not a "customer". It is a mature lake in the middle of the country side, so the only noises that you can hear is the wonderful wildlife.

The pegs are finished to a high standard - they are well thought out, maintained and spacious. Each peg has a clearly defined allocation of water. The facilities are fantastic. Even with this, it manages to maintain a natural feeling, rather than being commercial.

The stock of fish is seriously impressive and they are really well looked after.

Andy and Rob are highly accomplished anglers and know the lake like the back of their hand, so will always be able to give you pointers.

I have fished many many venues and Rob has to be head and shoulders above any bailiff I have ever come across. It is clear to see that Rob has a passion for helping people catch fish and will help you to no end (if that is what you want). He kept me up to date with the goings on around the lake and gave me lots of advice - which directly resulted in my captures. Rob also helped me weigh my fish and takes top class photos!

Andy and Rob even dropped everything within an instant to come and help me at the local supermarket after my car had broken down - something which I am super grateful for.

The food was nothing less than excellent! Super tasty home cooked meals every evening made the experience even better and were always on time :)

Other points: all the bait you will need is supplied at the lake (I would not recommend bringing any),
there is a very good phone signal,
shops and petrol station are close by,
the fish get around all of the pegs,
there are no snags

Sadly we did not catch any fish. Andy and Rob were really helpful and worked hard trying to get us a bite, the weather conditions were against us.

General Comments:

Andy and Rob couldn’t do enough for us, despite not catching it was still an enjoyable week. We took advantage of Bernie’s food package, which was delicious and much appreciated.

Soft hooklink with lake special bottom baits, 1 did fall to IB wafter maize

Were the facilities what you expected?

No, expected to be able to use the facilities, pictures show a TV with sofa's which is classed as the owners 'lounge'. Meals were served outside regardless of temperature. Kitchen used only by owner but pictures show a working kitchen.
Power limited to 12v solar, phone charging only (we were told on the Friday they could take items off site but this information was not forthcoming to begin with). Fencing around the complex makes it feel like a prison, it may be it will be less in your face over time.
Shower good but limited to 4-6 daily, clean and tidy. Outside toilet in shed, no toilet roll and had to provide your own.

Were you happy with them?

Happy with the venue, bailiff seemed to be less interested in helping out and advising us in best locations, seemed to be busy working on getting it ready for the following week where it was fully booked out, chainsawing in the day.
Food good and value for money. Flexible from meal plan as food was purchased each day by the owner.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

No, certainly not what we wanted from our first french adventure. The lake by the owner's word was it is a 'rock hard' venue and the likelihood of catching 40's + was very slim. Owner and bailiff both fished and had multiple 30+ captures but never once suggested maybe one of the paying anglers should move.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Services generally good although if you are looking to catch multiple bigger fish there are certainly better waters out there. If you can put up with the owner then is a good venue.

General Comments:

Generally happy, I would definitely not be going back to Sky. It has not put us off France as a venue but would certainly ask many more questions of the owner before committing to another venue.

*Angling Lines* Thank you for your feedback and we´re sorry that you had a difficult week on the lake, cold temperature drops in the night meant the lake did not fish well. This is what you are referring to above and what the owner commiserated with you on that week. We nor the owner would describe Sky Lake as a rock hard venue otherwise.

Regarding the facilities, we apologise and have made the pictures clearer. The shower is within the lodge that was pictured and is only available between 4-6pm each day. Charging is allowed for all items except bait boat batteries. We apologise for the chainsawing - we tried to do this with the least disruption possible and not near swims with anglers on.
