Details of your catches:

Fish appeared to like wafters and beds of particle this week. However after a warm start we had torrential rain for 24hrs which slowed them down. Only for the last 36 hours to pick back up.

Fished margins and 30-40m in front of swims. Island didn't do much in the way of catching. water level low due to the extended hot weather, so pegs 3 - 6 did better than the others.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Wafters worked, also popped up corn, boilies were ok. didnt really have chance to get into regular fish to see what exactly was making the difference.
Squid & Plum Wafters (Invicta Angling Kent) DNA Wafters, Manilla Boilie with Active, Cell Boilie, Particle and maize also

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were good, shower brilliant and warm every time.
Food package was out of this world and worth every penny, if anyone is thinking about that you wont be disappointed.

Were you happy with them?

Very happy

General Comments:

Great week, and nothing was too much trouble. The lake has some beautiful fish. It's a great venue and anyone would have a good time fishing. It's not a runs water we found but more a target a fish at a time. But still a great week.

Details of your catches:

19 fish total, 2 x 50lb+, 2 x 38lb, 5 other mid 30’s and then 8 x 20’s and 2 doubles.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

There was a mixture of bait used. I personally fed mainly corn as the week progressed, not much seemed to happen on boilie. 2 bits of slow sinking corn on the hair, short rigs. The fish are very good at spitting hooks.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were good, small cabin for you to wash and shower in. The lake was beautiful, there is also a static caravan that can be hired, but we were happy in our bivvies

General Comments:

Mark, John & Debbie were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and not at all intrusive, they just want you to enjoy your holiday. They’re available to talk to at any time for help and advice about the lake/fishing. It can be a little tricky at the start but a few rig tweaks and feeding for a bite at a time seemed to get things going.

The lake is simply stunning, the stock of fish fantastic. The food was good, the hosts were excellent, the fishing was excellent too. Highly recommend!!

Details of your catches:

A good week in very hot conditions (42 degrees one day!). Between 4 of us 15 fish on the bank with the biggest which was a known common as Big John caught at 54lb after spawning (was caught at 65lb back in April).

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Light baiting to get the fish on the feed with slow sinking corn rigs with size 6-8 hooks short hook length although one of the guys caught on pop ups with spinners (which caught the biggest of the week). Listen to Mark he knows the lake inside out and his advice as the fish are very picky eaters due to the natural food sources and being rig shy. Fish tight lines and backleads, be wary of one bleeps as they pick up and drop quickly so be on your rods!

Were you happy with them?

Yes - the facilities were what we expected decent shower hosts always on hand to charge whatever you needed.

The only negative I’d say is the drop on some of the swims being quite steep. The water levels were down by 2ft which didn’t help but some of the swims were quite tricky and the sheer drop could cause an accident (one of the guys fell down and hurt his back).

My advice if it’s possible is level the swims or have stages down to the water with bivvy pegs being on the higher level (like on swim 7) I know it’s a lot of work but would improve the fishery massively and for perhaps less able bodied people.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

100% it’s a ideal lake and the most lovely people who run it - I’d be back in a heartbeat and would love to have a few beers with John/Mark

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes brilliant

General Comments:

This is a well run fishery with probably the best lake owners I’ve met in France. John and Debbie were fantastic and the food was excellent best I’ve had on a fishing trip in France. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly full of advice and kept the aerators on not only to oxygenate the lake with the extreme inconsistent weather but to improve the fishing for us weather day or night.

We had a great week and when it was 42 degrees we left the lake to find an extreme water slide park which was hilarious and a very cool swimming pool an hour away which made what was a stupidly hot day fun and then back to fishing in the evening.

General advice listen to Mark, the fishing is tricky but get your tactics right and you’ll have a very memorable week.

Owners are lovely people. Daily visits with fresh ice blocks for the cool boxes, and charged bait boat batteries etc. Mark very helpful with tips. Not an easy water, but lovely place to fish and we had a great time.
