General Comments:

Booked for the lads 18th birthday, pressure was on to get him a P.B. Lots of rain on arrival making driving gear to swims impossible, luckily we had our own barrow. Fishing was difficult but with a little hard work not impossible and we were rewarded with a couple of excellent fish and the lad broke his P.B with a stunning 48.4lb mirror.
Some of swims could do with some tree work should you not have a baitboat. But the lake is overall kept well.
Our hosts were pleasant accommodating. The food package was basic home cooked food, every meal was hot on arrival and specific requests catered for, big thank you for that.
We really enjoyed our week despite the weather and the hard weeks fishing, fair to say we would all come back.

Yes but not sure you vet your venues with an regularity as this clearly not a big fish venue any more this is my only criticism of AL you were very helpful with arranging travel and bring forward our return a day early see below

General Comments:

Really disappointed at this venue have fished in France for 30 years and overall was the worst I have fished, not sure you can call this a big fish venue, most fish caught between 6 and 16 lbs 30 fish like this. Swims were neglected some were difficult to cast due overhangs. Swim1 was a steep bank to water swims 2 and 4 has rocks protruding from ground making these swims dangerous especially at night. Swim 8 could only fish if renting hut as very small space in front of hut, swim 7 difficult to fish due to wet conditions (not venues fault) however the worst thing was the amount of fish and tackle lost due the snags in the margins if you fished at any range the fish just kite to the snags, food package was ok but nothing special. Hosts were nice and pleasant but did not help in the fishing of the lake, saw mark (son) on arrival to walk round that was the last we saw of him.
*Angling Lines note (updated 22.1.25)* Thank you for your feedback. We have discussed the points raised with the owners, they recognised the developing issue with the smaller carp being a nuisance, the lake has now been netted this winter and over 120 small carp removed, restoring the higher average weight the lake is well known for. During this process, branches and other snags from the recent storm will also be removed. We do regularly vet venues and monitor catch reports throughout the season.

General Comments:

A couple of the pegs have a fairly steep drop down to the lake which can make it trickier to land fish and use a bait boat, it would be better if those pegs were levelled a bit or steps added down to the lake to make it easier. Also, there are a few snags/trees that have fell into the margins which could do with being cleared but as long as you're close to your rods when fishing near them it’s not too much of an issue. We both smashed our PBs with our 40lb+ carp and really enjoyed our trip and the owners are lovely, thank you!
