Details of your catches:

87 carp
3 thirty’s
58 twenty’s
26 high doubles
2 x tench
1x roach
Using only one rod each and fishing days only, Vincons is definitely a runs water.
The fish were in excellent condition and fought very hard.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The carp spawned on and off all week but it didn’t effect the fishing at all. We had numerous double hook ups two landing nets are a must.
Boilies fished over a bed of pellets and maize.
Fish came from close range to the far margins, a bait boat helps here.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes much better than expected.

Were you happy with them?

Yes very.

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Angling Lines were exceptionally helpful.

General Comments:

Vincons is certainly a runs water, it is very quiet and peaceful and well looked after.
Alice and family were very helpful and welcoming.
We really enjoyed our time there and will visit again in the future.

Details of your catches:

Vincons is a nice place and having the lake to yourself does give a real freedom to move and fish. We fished all day and well into dark but not thru the night as weather really was unpleasant for being in bivvy all night. Cold and very windy. We had gone with high expectations of a runs water so was disappointed to get ONLY 16 fish in the week including 3 thirties and average weight of 21lb. We were first people to fish this year and the fish seemed to be "waking up" from winter crashing around in shallows and far side but not feeding much. Several captures had lice on them from being dormant in winter. Crayfish did get at baits at times mostly at night but not a major issue.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Most things caught but most successful was a balanced snowman with a bright yellow pineapple pop up on it, to stand out and get their attention when not really on the feed. Fishing to far bank was working well until bait boat died on Wednesday. Do need a bait boat to get offerings and tackle in same area as over 100m. Waders useful for top third of lake as very shallow to land fish etc. Lake in top end is only 2.5 feet deep in middle. But shoals of fish loved the shallower water - can imagine when its "on" it would be a crazy fishing experience

Were the facilities what you expected?

The accommodation was clean and well equipped and a real bonus when the weather turned poor on us. Good shower / toilet about 50m from chalet again clean and well kept. Was not time of year for the pool - spent whole week in my beanie.
Only small gripe - there was a strange overflow under the sink that had a plastic bowl catching water on the floor if you pulled plug on a sink of washing up water - this bowl needed to be emptied if not it went onto floor

Were you happy with them?

Yes the chalet was a great bonus for the lake, giving somewhere to escape from the weather.
Its as the pictures show - it is not a luxury family holiday villa but it never claims to be that - but for a fishing holiday it is perfect giving a comfortable space to eat, cook, sleep etc

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes - Alice is a lovely person wanting you to enjoy her family's lake. She was helpful but also gave us our own space which is a good balance when having a lake exclusive.
It is a long drive down from Caen ferry but the wildlife there adds to experience. We saw osprey, scops owl, green woodpecker, coypu plus others and heard hoopoe, nightinggale and curlew in vicinity.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes as our first french trip was easy and painless to arrange with Angling Lines

General Comments:

Came away having enjoyed our week at Vincons but also frustrated as could see potential for huge catches and that fish / weather had not played ball with us. Take your waders and if can afford it a bait boat to help reach far side. The fish were in great condition and those caught off dam wall fought hard in the 7.5 ft of water there.

Details of your catches:

Vincons certainly delivered as a "runs water". Fishing days only I caught 42 carp (2 thirties, 15 twenties, 20 doubles and five singles) and lost a few / missed some "drop back" bites as well. The first couple of days I tried to get the fish to move in on baits close to the lodge bank with very limited results, but as soon as I started fishing to the far bank the action really took off.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing to the far bank using boilies over maize and pellet. For rigs, I used both simple knotless hair rigs tied with silkworm and D-rig using Korda IQ and there was no difference in the catch rate.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as per the photos on the Angling Lines website the lodge is very comfortable and well equipped. Alice and her family are very friendly and helpful.

Were you happy with them?

Yes made a pleasant change from being "bivvied up" !

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes - as ever Angling Lines are a pleasure to deal with.

General Comments:

Not a big fish water but if you are after action and comfortable accommodation in a quiet rural setting Vincons is an excellent choice. The lake is large enough to make things interesting with deeper water and shallows to fish and as others have commented the fish fight incredibly hard. It would be an excellent option if you want to get your family interested in fishing.

Details of your catches:

Number of fish caught by each angler = 10,17,19,30 & 64 (Total 140). Only 4 x Thirties 30.4oz Common, 30lb 6.oz Mirror ,32lb 0oz Common & 33lb 8oz Mirror
Fishing only days and occasional nights, with many multiple catches (2 Landing Nets a must).

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Various Boilies as Hookbaits including boilies purchased via the lake owners. All methods caught from single baits to large beds of particles and solid bags.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. The Lakeside Cabin was very tidy and more than adequate along with the Shower & toilet facilities.
The Kitchen whilst well stocked with all kitchen utensils etc and a stove, freezer and fridge both the freezer and fridge was a squeeze for 5 Anglers. The lake is located within a stunning rural location and the wild boar in the adjoining fields added to the experience.

Were you happy with them?

Yes. The only recommendation would be additional fridge/ freezer space. However it should be noted we did not ask Alice to establish if space was available elsewhere
