2 anglers

Details of your catches:

2 Anglers - (4 nights - not a week)
5 Sturgeon (27-38lb); 4 carp (one double and 3 low 20s)

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We struggled and still cannot work out why!! First 48h were spent catching and losing sturgeon. Then stopped using fishmeal boilies and pellet and the carp started to show. The owner came round and advised we move down other end of lake which we did and then had 2 carp in the next 48h. Carp showing everywhere but just not interested in bait - other things on their mind?? Spawning?? The Sturgeon fight like torpedos and tailwalk. We should have just carried on fishing for them!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Clean toilet and Shower - plug sockets for charging things.
(V.Good supermarket down the road). Mobile phone signal good. Can park behind swims. Fire pit in each swim (Light a fire each night to keep the bugs away - not that there were many).
Owner very relaxed and friendly.

Were you happy with them?

Yes.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes.
Avoid Pellet and Fishmeal based boilies if you dont want to catch Sturgeon.
Loads of features. Fish in the shallower water around the bars. (not the deep water for the sturgeon)

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Beautiful place, mature lake. Great fish stocks. Only 2 anglers on when we arrived, and one when we left. Not busy which is what we wanted, and worth the 4h drive from Calais to get away from the crowds. Thought we would have a few more judging by other reports, but thats fishing! Will hopefully go back next year!

Details of your catches:

my freind and i caught 40 carp - biggest was 39.3 common. I had 11 x 30lb plus fish and 17 twenties to 29lb. My freind had 3 thirties to 32lb,and the remainder being twenty pound plus fish.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

the best tactics we found was to fish on top of the numerous gravel bars, with a baitboat we placed boilies over hempseed.

Were the facilities what you expected?

yes very very relaxing venue, sebastien was great and didnt bother us all week, great fishing.

Were you happy with them?

yes the showers were very clean as were the toilet area, there was electricity outlets but a fridge and large chest freezer are badly needed as it reached 30c some days, keeping food fresh and bait was a problem.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

yes definateley, its a great venue and full of features and great head of thirty pound plus fish.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

yes without a doubt, this is the third time ive used angling lines and every time has been spot on,great holiday thankyou.

General Comments:

get on this venue quickly before the carp wise up,as it is now its a runs water for thirties!!!!!!!! no monsters as yet but i used nearly 80k so it wont be too long, very rare place to find on the carp scene, great fun.

General Comments:

does really need a chest frezer for your bait and also a fridge for your fresh food as it does not keep in the hot weather

8 anglers

Details of your catches:

The group of 10 had over 80 fish, at least 20 of them were mirrors, size range from 15lb to 43lb, grass carp,a few bream and few sturgeons. Fish were of good quality.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Little and often, liked the maize and boilies, did not appear to have much success with the pellet. Bevo Baits Ninza black were to their liking.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes for drive and survive however the cabin would benefit from a bench to sit on when out of the shower. The loo compartment was too small, one chap had his legs out of the door, the shower too was a bit close for comfort but welcome. A floor mop would be good for muddy days. The power for charging was next to the loo, too dangerous to charge in the cabin, next to water!

Were you happy with them?

Yes they provided necessary basics, hot water, sinks, shower. Could do with some improvement to size of loo area. The facilities were kept clean each day.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes but it would have been nice to have an emergency contact for Angling Lines because when we arrived the combination lock number had been changed by other anglers (not sure who), the owner was not contactable and our party spent a wasted hour trying different combinations before we got in. We had advised we would be there at 2 pm, no one visited us until 5 pm. Had the combination not been found, we would have been waiting all that time. The lock had to be changed. *** Note from ALines - really sorry to hear this. We'll speak to the owner re the time he arrived. Re Emergency Contact number - there is one in the information you download prior to your holiday (rules, directions, ferry details etc) ****

General Comments:

Weather not as expected on arrival but then that's beyond control. Would recommend Mosquito spray as Mr Gillman ended up when back in the UK with problems caused by a bite and spent 2 days in hospital. The fishing was good, would suit 10 anglers if two fish together and space themselves out. Depths differ quite a lot from map.
