We had a hard week with fish spawning and very hot days . Still managed to get seven fish in bank. 41lb, 38, 32, 28, 28, 19 and an 18lb. We did miss 4 as well.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Bait boat to far bank and island using Pva bag, we also found three quarters across the water in mornings was a good area .

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities was great, the lake itself is a piece of heaven and a fantastic place to fish in peace. Shower and toilet clean but do take a mosquito killer for huts. Listen to the owner Bruno he gives advise and wants you to catch, fantastic host and will help out anyway he can .

27 fish caught. 4 x 40s (largest a 44lb common to Ian), 7 x 30s, 11 x 20s & 5 x doubles

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Small pop ups or fake maize in 3-4 feet of water. Watch the water carefully and margins for the spots. You'll need strong leaders for some spots as very rocky in places. Only 2 fish from open water. We found fishing over pellet and hemp the best method for our week, but the week before they were caught over lots of boilies. So mix things up to see what suits your week.

Were the facilities what you expected?

They made for a very comfortable week, just wish jacko and Gav didn't snore so loud! If you're worried about using the beds, don't be, as the matresses are wrapped so no nasty odours and the hut was well maintained. The BBQ area is a nice touch for the social in the evening. The toilets and shower are very clean and work well.

Were you happy with them?

No complaints! Only thing to say is if it's windy when your there - latch the huts doors properly or they tend to swing open with a crash (sorry Bruno about the glass). There's also a boat to use to check spots when you arrive,

Yes I would recommend the venue. Its not an easy water but if you listen to Bruno he will give you a good start. Just don't forget to mix things up if things get tough. Use the boat to find the spots, snags etc. There was silk weed, deepsilt in places, rocks, snags and bars to find.

General Comments:

Last point is a big thank you to Bruno! When one of our party had an accident late at night, he came out to help. He organised medical help that saved alot of hassle with us trying to speak French to emergency services. After a night in hospital, jacko was back with us. BRUNO YOU ARE A LEGEND.

Top week on Deux Iles, credit to Bruno what a awesome lake he has, will be returning for sure

Details of your catches:

My wife and I fished from the left side island. We had 8 bites through the week and landed 5 fish. 20lb 0oz mirror 27lb 8oz mirror 33lb 4oz mirror 37lb 15oz common 43lb 1oz mirror

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Snowman pop up rig 20 feet from the far margin. Pre-bait spots with 8-10 catapults of particle mix. Use bait boat to drop hook baits onto pre baited spots. Let your bait stay out for at least 12 hours.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were as expected. Please keep in mind that the shower and toilet facilities are heated but the cabins are not heated. It did get cold at night.

We were very happy with the quality of the fish, the surrounding were beautiful and the cabin and facilities were immaculate.

I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone who is thinking of going to France for a fishing holiday. This was our first fishing trip to France. The drive to the venue was simple and we were very impressed with all aspects of our holiday.

Booking the holiday was a very simple process. Communication from the company was excellent. The allowed drive time from Calais to the lake is quite tight. We managed to get a train 1 hour before our booked time by arriving at Folkestone early. We then arrived at the lake only 10 minutes before the due time of 11am. Please bare this in mind when you travel and allow yourself extra time. *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback, we will look to amend the recommended crossing time now.

General Comments:

Bruno is really friendly and will be forthcoming with advice if asked. We had a fantastic time on this holiday both catching new PB’s. The memories made on this holiday will stay with us forever. My wife has said that it’s been the best week of her life.
