Details of your catches:

We struggled throughout the week to emulate the number of catches reported by previous anglers, Bruno was at a loss as he confirmed our rigs were correct and baiting patterns were sufficient to encourage bites. He concluded that possibly as we had the lake to ourselves for the week this could have sent the fish to the quieter end of the lake, this combined with the very hot weather resulted in fewer bites.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We had bites on bottom baits and pop ups, strangely this week imitation baits were more or less ignored. We were plagued throughout the week by crayfish which devoured our baits before the carp had a chance to find it, one morning I reeled in an imitation pop up rig which I had put out the previous evening to find a crayfish had it in a bear hug and was a stubborn little blighter to get off. Bruno is actively seeking to eradicate the crayfish and has invested in known predators such as Black Bass, Pike & Zander as well as numerous traps around the lake. Please do not let this put you off booking this venue, I mention it as I believe open informative feedback is essential for other anglers to prepare accordingly.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Better than expected, the cabins made a refreshing change from carrying out daily tasks at knee level in the bivvy. Each cabin is equipped with 2 beds, bedside table, shelving, fridge, cooking shelf lighting and power. Note you will need a travel adapter for UK chargers etc.

Were you happy with them?

Yes more than happy

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Definitely, everything is taken care of by Angling Lines including ferry crossings, which as a first time ferry user I was a little apprehensive but no worries the loading and unloading was organized and the ferry itself exceeded my expectations.

General Comments:

As echoed by many others, Bruno is a top class host, he is there if needed but otherwise leaves you alone to enjoy the fishing. The location is very secure and tranquil and had we not ventured to the nearby village for provisions I doubt if we would have seen another soul all week. As an aside any other first time travelers to France (as we were) please familiarize yourself with the "give way to traffic from the right rule", we "nearly" fell foul of it.....................

Details of your catches:

It was a tough weeks fishing with ever changing weather conditions but we managed 10 carp to 47 1/2 lb.

2 x 40, 3 x 30, 4 x 20 and one double.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The first 2 fish were caught on a Ronnie Rig using CC Moore Cork Ball Pop Ups but due to the Cray fish we swapped onto Korda plastic dumbbells which caught the rest (both yellow and pink). All fish were caught in open water keeping the bait going in. As soon as the sun was out for a few hours we would get a run.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes good as always
