84 fish 8lb to 33lb, next largest was 26lb
The same 33lb fish was caught 4 times, 40 of our fish were grass carp.
Bit disappointed with our larger catch, the lake has an average of 35lb our average and past averages on catch reports are well below that most of our fish were between 15-25lb.
We spotted the leather carp we caught in past photos on feedback we had it 4 times @ 33lb easily identifiable as one of its pelvic fins is missing in a photo from 2020 it was weighed at 39lb, so has lost a bit of weight over the year.

There are poison chat in the lake that strip your bait from rigs, we shrink wrapped ours, will be a problem if not addressed

Were the facilities what you expected?

The main house has everything you need is clean and tidy, it’s nice to fish from the bank next to the house. Our lake cancelled on us 48 hrs prior, we were offered Mas Bas who accommodated, for that we are thankful.

General Comments:

Mixed emotions really thankful we got to fish after the cancellation, but the whole France experience for us about multiple 30’s and 40’s which was missing.

Details of your catches:

4 rods all from the poolside bank, 80+ fish lots of mid 20 mirrors,2 low 30lbs and 20ish grass carp up to 27lb. We also had a surprise of 3 koi carp all mid teens.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

20mm boilies 10/15 freebies every hour or so. Check your Boilies every hour because crayfish and poisson chat are in the lake. I had 3/4 poisson chat a day.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Three good size bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs all clean and in good working order. Very good size kitchen with dishwasher and large fridge freezer with all cooking accessories you need. Large indoor table and chairs for dinner time and two large comfy settees for the TV in the evening which had free view channels in English. In all very good.

Were you happy with them?

We as a family were very happy with everything, it was our second trip to Mas Bas main lake and will be planning a third in the future

General Comments:

Sharon and Gilles go out of their way to help in any aspect. Helping us with COVID test booking as well as booking our van in for a new tyre and balancing. Super hosts and super property.

Details of your catches:

Superb weeks fishing, only used 1 rod each with 3 people fishing for the week and sometimes only 2. Had a total of 95 fish but also had some mornings and afternoons out. Mixture of grass carp , mirror carp and common carp but also 4 stunning koi carp.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Best tactics as advised by Gilles (very helpful) is to use tiger nut as hook bait with tiger nuts, boilies and pellet.

We used a bait boat to drop a few feet off the far bank which was very effective but also mid water near aerator. No problem with the poison chat with this tactic and no need to mesh the baits.

One spot to the left under the tree on the near bank about 5ft out also produced a couple of mirrors. Gilles has upgraded the bank side since last visit and done a great job with a jetty in the water too stand on when landing the fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

We have visited before and the house and facilities were as good as the first time, clean and tidy as always. This is the perfect location for a family break to catch fish, lounge in the sun on wifi or float around the pool and so something for every one.

Gilles and Sharon are very helpful from the fishing and assistance with the dreaded covid situation but they assisted us in arranging the tests to return too England and all went straight forward with no issues.

Were you happy with them?

We had a fantastic week with kids and parents and the house was ideal for us and looking forward to returning in the future.

We recommend this venue for a family break or any one who loves a screaming run on the rods.

From the day we booked to the day coming home, angling lines were very proactive with the covid situation leading up to the holiday and Sharon and Gilles were helpful through the week if we required it at any point.

Details of your catches:

27 carp ranging from 12lb to 35lb. Biggest being a leather, also included a stunning 20lb Koi.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Feeding mainly tiger nuts and pellets with a few boilies added. Almost all fish to double tiger nuts. Location - 5 yards off far bank at about 11:00 when looking out on main lake from house. A couple of fish down in the left channel but not as prolific as expected. Biggest fish consistently on the margin rod set up to the right just opposite swimming pool. Fishing only 3-5 yards from bank.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities include everything needed for a great family holiday with excellent carp fishing. Cradles, weigh slings and tripods all provided.

Were you happy with them?

We were very happy with facilities and accommodation.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Venue was beautiful and would be great for a couple of families if using the extra rooms. Fantastic shared spaces both inside and out and a truly stunning location. Also everything you need in the local village either via convenience of the supermarket or local produce in the market or smaller shops.

Angling lines were really helpful and understanding throughout the hassles and stress of COVID-19 restrictions. Gilles and Sharon were on hand and available for anything we needed.
