General Comments:

The plus’s.
The Gite, lake, pool and grounds are beautiful, set in stunning countryside.
Giles and Sharon were very friendly and helpful.
The negatives.
The fish are in extremely poor condition, damaged mouths and most of the sizeable fish have been ‘clipped’ mutilated dorsal and take fins cut ! There is also a real problem with plagues of poisson chat !!
If you don’t get a run within 5 mins of your bait entering the water, the poisson chat move in and you’ll have no bait left after 10 mins ! I tried all methods to combat this, netting and shrink wrapping my baits but to no avail.... the lake is literally teaming with Piosson chat, thousands of them !
What carp are in the lake tend to be very small for French fishing, mainly doubles with the odd 20lber. I found the fishing not to be enjoyable at all, lots of casting and reeling in with no BAIT !
The lake in my opinion has not been managed properly at all, it needs netting and the small carp removed along with ‘tones’ of poisson chat

*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. It was disappointing to read this and it is in contrast to other feedback we received this year. Whilst we acknowledge there are poisson chat in the lake and they will be the most active in the hotter summer months, they have not caused a big issue for other guests. We do recommend using tiger nuts if you begin having a problem.

Yes, the facilities are fantastic - pool, veranda and fishing ideally spaced together for all the family

Were you happy with them?

Yes however, the bedrooms would benefit from a fan in each room to help ventilation during hot nights. Shower facilities would benefit from improvement particularly in the lower ground floor.

But these are only small issues.

Long drive, but when you arrive the place gets a grip of you and the travelling pales into insignificance

Plenty of bait and often. Used pellet, boilie, lots hemp.

Facilities are superb, for a family of 7 we had more than enough room. Immaculate.

More than happy, we absolutely love mas bas, every time we visit we make different special memories. Sharon & Giles are so welcoming and cannot do enough to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Details of your catches:

In total 51 fish caught, of which 31 Mirror Carp between 20-43 lbs, 11 Common Carp between 12-35 lbs and 9 Grass Carp between 13-23 lbs

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

2 20 mm boilies 0,5cm (max.) to the hook ( size 2-4) bend, all kinds of boilies work, but make sure the boilies are hard enough to prevent poisson chat problems. On the tiger nuts we caught mostly Grass Carp.

For sure, excellent venue, beautiful and restful environment, good stock of hard fighting carp, great house and facilities, nice owners very helpful, possibility to rent 2 extra bedrooms

A (small) discount for loyal and returning guests would have been nice
