Details of your catches:
2 forties to 45lb 2oz (Mirrors)
10 thirties to 35lb 2oz (Mirrors and Commons)
11 twenties to 29lb 8oz (Mirrors and Commons)
3 teens to 18lb 4oz (Mirror, Grass and Koi)
Only one night was fished and selected hours throughout the days. The girlfriend did not fish.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Combi-rigs were used throughout the week for all bottom bait, snowman and pop-up presentations.
The baiting tactic was ‘little and often’ using a combination of Quest Baits Magnum Duo, Chilli Chocolate and Rahja Spice boilies in 10mm, 15mm and 20mm.
Hookbaits were often different from the baited free offerings with Quest Baits Fruity Trifle boilies in 15mm and 20mm being the most successful.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities provided at this venue exceeded our expectations.
The accommodation is complete with full cooking facilities together with a full range of cutlery and crockery. There is also a fridge freezer, washing machine, drier and TV.
The barbecue located between the house and the swimming pool was extremely useful and was put to good use.
All bed linen and bath towels were provided and laundered by the proprietors, Gilles and Sharon, who throughout our stay were very supportive and helpful. They called round every other day to see if anything was required.
Please note that you are requested to take your own tea towels.
Were you happy with them?
We were more than happy with the facilities provided by the owners.
Provisions were easily obtained from the supermarket located in the nearby town of Laroque-Timbaut which is approximately 3 miles away from the venue.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
We would definitely recommend this venue to friends.
The lake and house are located in a picturesque area surrounded by agricultural land.
Gilles is happy to impart good advice on how to achieve the best results from the lake. By following his advice we certainly put more fish on the bank.
On four separate occasions we achieved multiple takes. We would definitely recommend that any new visitors to this venue take at least two landing nets.
As we were taking a May holiday we selected Mas Bas Main Lake on the basis that it is the most southerly venue in France and the weather is warmer.
If a visitor is taking a girlfriend or the family then we would recommend this venue without hesitation. It provides all of the facilities required and the weather is better than venues further north.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes.
General Comments:
If the budget allows we would recommend taking the ferry to St. Malo and making an overnight stop at Bordeaux which is approximately a 5 hour drive. This enabled us to travel on to Mas Bas the next morning fully refreshed and ready to go.
Without the overnight stop in Bordeaux the venue is approximately a 6 ½ hour drive from the St. Malo ferry terminal.

General Comments:
Lovely setting, and proximity to the house for anglers meant we actually saw the rest of the party, which was great. Pool lovely but didn't really get the weather to appreciate it as much as we would have liked. Gilles and Sharon were good hosts.

Details of your catches:
2 Anglers (Frank and Graham) caught 40 Carp in the week Sept 5th to 12th. Due to trips around the local Bastide Towns and restaurants we didn't fish every day. On Thursday Graham caught 6 fish in an hour and a half.
4 x 40lb mirror carp (largest over 45lb), 8 x 30lb carp including 34 1/2lb Common, 22+ 20lb Carp, several high doubles.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Fishing to known hotspots (see feedback book in main house) with 8in to 10in Korda KD and Blowback rigs , Fluoro throughout, size 6 and 8 barbless and micro barb hooks, Rahja Spice 20mm boilies, Korda Shrink Wrapped and Glugged.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities were excellent. Sharon and Giles had configured the accommodation for us as a family of 9 including a baby cot. We loved the swimming pool during the hot days (25 to 29), used the barbecue to cook chicken from the local charcuterie, and the lake fishing was better than last year on the same week (34 last year 40 this year). Sharon and Giles are the perfect hosts and go out of their way to help clients achieve an amazing holiday experience. We have already booked again next year.

Wake up in the morning and look out onto the valley of sunflowers and steamy lake with jumping carp , buzzards and herons, swifts, a plethora of other wildlife and you'll know why people go back to Mas Bas. Giles and his Father created a little piece of heaven on earth. So tranquil , Peaceful, relaxing and yet all the carp action anyone could want........the perfect mix of accommodation and fishing for families and any purist carp fisherman.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Have recommended to everyone and anyone I fish with. Problem is I'm being selfish by not wanting it to become too popular !!!!
We travelled by plane to Bordeaux from Gatwick then car to Laroque Thimbaut for provisions then 5 mins down to Mas Bas.....you could be catching 30, 40 and even 50lb carp within a couple of hours!!!
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes have already done do, and have rebooked
General Comments:
Mas Bas is a little piece of heaven on earth !!! Open the upper bedroom window overlooking the main lake early am and gaze across the sunflower filled fields, steaming lake, jumping carp, buzzards circling and get reconnected with inner nature............peace tranquility relaxation a happy wife and family .......and tremendous carp action mixed in ......a recipe for a happy holiday.
