A combination of mirror, common and grass carp. 52 fish caught in total. Two forties biggest 44lb, about 10 thirties biggest 38lb. Personal bests for both anglers 44 lb Mirror and upper 30lb Common.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Little and often baiting, Crayfish and Baby Catfish can be a nuisance so netting boilies was essential. All fish caught on Raja Spice. Fishing to margins and tree lines on clear, firm spots produced regular good fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, we have been before and the Wifi was an added bonus. Pool and house were great, because the weather was particularly hot some shade around or on the pool would have been perfect. A poolside rinse shower would prevent the pool from getting greasy and grubby lines from sweat and suncream also helping to keep cool. This would attract more families and anglers for return visits without a doubt.

Yes in general we were all very happy.

More than 30 carp in one week between two anglers - Mirrors to 38 Lbs, Commons to 26 Lbs, Grass to 20 Lbs and Koi to 16 Lbs. Outstanding.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Very nice and the swimming pool was mightily appreciated as temperatures hit 40 degrees C.

Were you happy with them?

Happy - yes. But it was not luxury. Wifi didn't work all week, television is very old, no air conditioning and upstairs shower extremely small.

Great venue but please be careful in what is described as 'luxury'.

Details of your catches:

45 fish, including three over 50lbs, three forties, the rest were thirties and twenties. My son caught one grass carp and one koi. He fished early morning for a couple of hours (during breakfasts) and again in the evening.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

My son fished to particular spots, using Gilles boilies over few trout pellets, no carpets of food, all in PVA bags.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Good facilities. The list we sent ahead for our arrival was provided by Gilles, so we had wine and beer as well as pate and bread after we had unloaded at 10pm.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, but there were quite a few poisson chat in the lake, his first three catches were made up of them! We also were troubled by terrapins which sliced the baits cleanly. But the whole venue was beautiful and my son caught the lake record, so no complaints about the fish at all.

Yes, directions were good, venue was as described. Help before travelling was good as was the quality of advice.

General Comments:

I just wanted to thank you for the best French fishing trip I have ever experienced – I have been carping all over France for more than 15 years and this summer’s trip to Mas Bas has been by far the best.

The house is lovely, the views are absolutely breath-taking, the lake couldn’t be better – it offers everything from long range casting, to stalking in the margins or baiting spots and dropping the rigs from the boat. I genuinely loved every minute. I came with my fiancée and mum and dad and they were blown away by everything as well….and they don’t even fish!!!

Awesome week, can’t wait to come back!!!

Details of your catches:

One fishing mornings and evenings with a bit of stalking in between, caught 43 fish biggest 46.04 and 45.12 plus 6 x 30's, 17 x 20's and 14 grass carp

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

20mm Rahja spice feeding boillies over the top worked well at start of the week. It got hotter as the week went on (36 last three days) pellets and chopped boillies seemed to work better. Bites from all over lake. Stalking either end in the middle of the day was good fun.

The house was lovely, spacious and just what you need, all the mod cons too!

General Comments:

The venue was fantastic, beautiful setting, great weather and excellent fishing.

Plenty of features to keep the fishing interesting, take note of Gilles advice, he knows his lake!

We choose to fly and take advantage of full tackle hire for the week and this did not disappoint. Rods and reels very good quality. I've been to other lakes in France and this one is one of the best.

The house was perfect for us, very comfortable and amazing views. The outside area is great with seating and BBQ area and of course the pool which was a big hit with our 4 year old son! Our parents joined us for the first time this year and loved the venue.
