Details of your catches:

In all 125 Fish including 1 x 40, 5 x 30, 51 x 20, 30 Doubles the rest singles.
I caught 62 Fish to a 38.04 Mirror in all 3 x 30's, 29 x 20's, 23 x Doubles. I had three fish over thirty pound a Mirror 38.04 and two Commons 36.14 (From Lotus lake) and 34.09.
Darren Caught 44 Fish to 30.04 (Common) including 1 x 30, 16 x 20's, 15 x Doubles. He caught a stunning 13.10 Orange Coy Common and a 12.10 Sturgeon.
My 7 year old daughter Hannah caught 8 fish in all on her own 9ft Rod she caught 5 Mirrors and 3 Grass Carp.
The Mirrors were as follows 41.11, 33.08, 26.13, 24.12 and 20.03.
The Grass Carp 18.08 and two at approx 8lb.
My Wife Dawn even got in on the act and caught two fish when I was in the shower a Miror at 29.15 and a Grass Carp at 18.08.
I have been fishing for carp for almost 30 years and have been truely outdone this time by a 7 year old well done Hannah.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We used a basic Knotless Rig setting the length at about 10 inches long. Just made sure the hair came off opposite the the hookpoint and that the top of the boilie was about 3-5mm below the hook.
I used either Kryston 'Merlin' for a supple rig or Kryston 'Snakebite Gold' for a stiff rig. I used Korda Size 6 Teflon and PTFE Coated Hooks (Yes size 6) and made the hairs specifically for a 20mm bottom bait.
Both worked equally well.
My mate used Jelly wire and Nash Size 5 hooks.
We were getting absolutely brilliant hook holds the fish were absolutely nailing the baits some hooks took a fair bit of careful removal.
We only lost 3 fish all week all of which were at range and as a result of drop backs and almost instantly lost which suggests the the pick up was not right and the hooks were never set.
If in doubt listen to Giles if you are experienced fish your way it will work.
This is the second time we have fished this venue whilst any bait I have used does work I have to agree that the Rahja Spice out does anything else and all of our 125 fish came to a single 20mm bottom bait all of which had been glugged in boilie dip for at least 24 hours. I would not advocate soaking them for weeks as the boilies go very hard as we were running low we simply added to the hook bait pot daily.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were excellent comfortable clean my wife and 7 year old daughter came with us and were extremely impressed.
The pool is lovely all be it a bit cold at this time of year after all it is the end of September after all but it still got well used.
We fished this venue last year and stayed at Willow Cottage and having seen the Lake House booked as soon as we got home.

Were you happy with them?

The facilities are excellent if there is any problems Lesley and Giles are so accomodating mention it to them they will sort it out there is nothing to complain about this venue is awesome.

General Comments:

Mas Bas has so much potential and the fish are hard the hardest fighting fish I have come accross in years. They are generally in excellent condition. There was a bit of mouth damage to some fish, but as this venue attracts fishermen and women of various standards and is very much family orientated this is only to be expected.
I have seen numerous negative comments about the Grass Carp and whilst I would agree that there are still a few too many for my liking.
Giles is being proactive around the removal of the smaller fish and despite that we had 44 Grass Carp in all 18 of them were over 14lb and 3 over 20lb.
This venue is a little bit of paradise very comfortable and you can still catch forty pound fish what more do you want.

Details of your catches:

One angler only, 54 fish two P.B.s 42 pound Mirror P.B. Common 33 LB 6ozs never fished one night. 95 % of fish over 20 LBS about 5/6 were grass carp but were double figures and
one small tench. One double figure Sturgeon.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I used the tactics given to me by Giles, & Rahja Spice bait from Giles Who I found to be
most helpfull as was Leslie and
Sharron, Nothing was to much trouble. I must
say it was a long drive from Calais for a couple of pensioners, but worth every minute
a truly lovely place to be!

Were the facilities what you expected?

They were better than we expected for a fishing venue. The bed & the veiws were wonderfull

General Comments:

The house and setting are great.
The fishing needs some attention, too many grass carp! The grass carp are putting on weight but the average weight for the other carp is falling. The fish were also showing mouth damage, split or broken fins/tails. Better unhooking mats/landing nets and education needs to be provided for fish wealthfare. Many anglers are not properly prepared to catch large fish.
