General Comments:

We had never been to France before and were nervous as we have three young children... but we found the journey to be an adventure. Thank goodness for DVD's and the convenience of service stations every 10 to 15kms! When we arrived Giles and Leslie made us feel welcome ensuring we had everything that we needed, eg. coffee/tea milk. They were very helpful in giving directions for local amenities and places of interest as this venue can be a great place to set as a base to explore southern France. We stayed in Lotus cottage over looking Lotus and Main lake which has a shared pool that the children loved. Before we left Bridget phoned to confirm there was a cot for the baby. She had been to Mas Bass for a holiday one week previous and gave me some brill advice on rigs, what features to fish to and bait to use (thanks Briget - much appreciated) I decided to fish the Main lake which as you can see by the fish caught this is the place dreams can come true! While I was setting up my fishing gear Brendon who was staying in the Lake house introduced himself. He had been there for a week and had 22 fish up to 30lb. I took his advice for where to fish and also Giles who is always on hand. There is a catch report book going back 4yrs - this is a 'must' to read if you want to catch. I picked three features straight in front of the peg at the end of the garden the bridge at the island, red/green bush far bank, green bush farbank - fishing only 2 of these and baiting the other. I also fished to the lillies behind the island and caught 39lb 5oz Mirror and in the margins past the island which produced 48lb 6oz Mirrror this was caught on Quest Smokey Fish boilies which Giles had sold me at 58 euros for 5kg. We enjoyed the holiday so much that we have already booked for next year. I hope this info will be helpful and don't be put off by the drive as this is a great place to go to.... well worth it!

Details of your catches:

35 fish. 36.08 biggest. Loads of good 20's (about 8 @ 29lb). Only 4 singles. Any doubles were good ones.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fistight to the lilies or the far margin. I was rowing the baits out. Only light baiting (12kg for the 2 weeks). 18mm boilies. No pellet or particle. I did start using Maize but I was catching too many big bream. I was netting my baits to avoid any problems with poisson chat or crays. Get the location right & you will catch.

Were the facilities what you expected?

General Comments:

This is our 4th year at Mas Bas. We came for one week the first year & have been back for 2 weeks every year since - we love it! Even though its a family holiday & I do not fish hard I always catch well - nothing too complicated, just find the fish & present your baits well & you will catch. Great fishing & great facilities... we totally recommend it!

Nothing of note. I was fishing only occasional days & evenings - this was a holiday with friends. But the fish are definitely here.

General Comments:

Even though we didn't get the best from the fishing we had an absolutely fabulous time. This is a teriffic spot - just walking round the lake of an evening was a real delight. You don't need to be a fisherman to enjoy a holiday here. We thoroughly recommend Mas Bas to anyone.
