Took our 2 sons to experience some French Carp Fishing - we landed 106 Carp. 8 over 30lb with the 2 biggest weighing at 35lb+. 52 x 20lb+ fish and 40 odd double figure fish. We only used 2 sets of rods and didn't night fish. The Bivvies remained in the van.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Dont get hung up on needing a bait boat, whilst we had one the action was so prolific it was faster to get the rods back out by casting. Loose regular feeding kept the fish coming all day. The water can be very prolific, so personally would recommend at least 2 landing nets in the swim as double takes were a common occurance, along with buckets of water.

We did move around the lake and found some great little spots. Having 10ft rods was a real bonus as we were able to get into areas, where you couldn't cast with 12ft rods.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The whole experience was awesome. I have never been on a lake before that was so clean, there was no sign of any rubbish around the lake. The fishing lodge has all you needed, we stayed in the lodge for 4 nights but were truly spoilt with the gite, so it won for the last 3 nights.

The gite certainly has WOW factor and we feel lucky to have stayed there and it allowed us to explore the area. The swimming pool was an asset that was used daily by the kids and we ventured in when the sun was beating down.

General Comments:

Alice was away on her holidays when we arrived and her mother looked after us fabulously. The owners were always available in the background and it was only towards the end of the holiday Alice popped up to the Lodge to see how we were doing.

Liginere's is a lovely little village with a supermarket that opens 7 days a week, but closes between 12 and 3, which also coincides with a quiet time on the lake front. There is a crazy french lady with a burger van as you go into the village a few days of the week, where you can pick the farm where the beef has come from for your burgers, they are outstanding.

Les Troix Perdix in the village centre is well worth a vist for a meal and unbelievably the owners are scotts. A lovely holiday was had by all.

Had great time. Never thought one could get fed up with catching over 20s all day. Biggest around 35 with 2 fish lost thru pulled hooks much bigger. My fault putting too much strain on. Just not used to fish fighting for so long! Best thing of all NOT a bookie in sight. Pure heaven!

Details of your catches:

We had a great week, the weather was not great but the fish still fed. Between 3 of us and dad only fishing days and Heidi only fishing when she felt like it and sharing my rods. We managed 97 takes landing 87 fish to 37lb-12oz.

Dad had 34 carp to 35lb
John had 40 carp to 37lb-12oz
Heidi had 13 fish to 34lb-40z

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Heavy baiting tight to hook bait. We used carp company cranberry Caviar in 18mm and 14mm sizes

The owners of this venue are lovely people and so friendly, what a lovely family.

Details of your catches:

Mike 78 fish to 36 lb 8oz - 5 x 30s, 34 x 20s, the rest were doubles.

Kev 3 x 30’s to 35lb 10oz, 39 x 20s, 19 x doubles.

13 year old Rob who only fished now and again caught 13 Carp to 27lb.

Lynn caught 3 fish helping Kev out when he had double takes, her biggest going 21lb 10oz.

Kev spodded and it worked well as did scattering boilies loosely after takes.
