Live system boiles and particle maize. Fishing to far margins and open water. Most fish caught night time and early morning. No problem with crayfish, Bruno seems to have sorted them

General Comments:

The lake and facilities are a credit to Bruno things are always very clean and tidy. It’s a pleasure to be there, Bruno will offer as much advice and help as you need if wanted. He is always very polite and friendly.

Details of your catches:

What a week!! 34 fish landed. 4x40 (45:10 43:08 41:00 40:06), 11x30, 13x20, 6x10. Cabin 1 caught 5 and 8. Cabin 2 caught 17 and 4 between the 4 of us.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

As soon as we saw Bruno the owner we instantly disliked him. His chiselled jaw line and handsome look soon had us all jealous, but what a great guy! He couldn’t have been more helpful and bent over backwards to help us!! We all went for the bait package. Live system. I took plastic baits due to crayfish reports. I had plastic on the margin rod as you could see the crayfish but it always came back ok. After 2 days of doing snowman we found the baits were UNTOUCHED by the Crays in open water so we left them out for 24hrs at a time in confidence, only changing after a fish. Never been to France before so we did ask Bruno for some advice which we followed. We kept the bait on cabin 2 to a minimum. This tactic worked as the fish hoovered up our small amount plus rig.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The hot shower was great. I enjoyed leaving the door open and looking across the lake. The toilet was clean with enough toilet paper to last a life time! The kitchen was great and so nice to wash up your pots in the evening. The fridge in the Cabin was also great for storing your food in.

Were you happy with them?

Happy with EVERYTHING. Couldn’t fault it one bit.

Deffo recommend and already planning on rebooking for next year.

The Angling line service was good with regular emails at the right times.

General Comments:

Having waited 50 years before going to France, I’ve now started something I wouldn’t want to stop. The only thing that went wrong was I thought I read “ bait boat available” somewhere and I thought the symbol at the top of info of a bait boat controller meant a bait boat was supplied for the week! This was not the case and we were meant to have booked one! Well ............. Bruno again bent over backwards and got us a boat on the 3rd day after he got one from somewhere. This transformed our fishing accuracy and baiting etc so I would recommend a boat if you went.

One angler 4 rods, 12 carp and new pb for the lake at 52ib

3 rods towards the bunker and one on the back of the island. All on 20mil cell with call mixed with party mix

Details of your catches:

Second visit to Bruno’s little paradise islands. Like last year we fished from cabin 1 and like last year we had a week of really hot weather which was lovely for the holiday aspect of sitting around enjoying the glorious surroundings but made the fishing a little tricky and slower during the day. The majority of bites came during the night or early morning but a few were bagged In daylight.. Together we snaffled 17 fish with the biggest weighing in at 48lb. Good mix of 30’s and twenty’s too and a couple in the high teens.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The crayfish this year were much less of a battle. Bruno has a done a great job controlling them. Still though we found plastic baits the best method with a floating corn stacked on a sinker. These were fed out over a small bed of hemp, partical, pellets and a few nuts. Ditched the boilies so as not to over feed.. Usual spots on the far bank and up against the island plus back of the hut producing bites and takes. The great looking left hand corner nearest the hut proving illusive again to produce a fish even through there were splashing about there from time to time.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities are great and the hut and WiFi and shower/kitchen are all really good. All in all It’s a lovely place to just chill and hope the fish don’t jump out and ruin the peace and quiet of your holiday... ;-) The local town is marvellous too. Good for supplies and a few beers and a spot of lunch to give yourself a break from all the relaxing. Gorgeous little stretch of River accessible from Bruno’s set up too and we bivvied down there a night to try for a river carp but with no success but still won second prize of a sackful of decent Chubb, a barbel and some bream.

What is not to be happy about. Great place and Bruno really is a decent guy. Gives you as much or as little advice as you want.

Yes but as long as they don’t book when I want to go back!

Yes Anglin Lines is all straight forward and makes it easy.

General Comments:

Nothing else really to add. A really good place and will be back next year for another visit. P.s... Sad to hear that Steve the Sturgeon has passed on. R.I.P Steve.
