Another great week at Mas Bas main lake, 74 fish landed biggest being 42.8lb.
Weather cool and breezy at the beginning of the week with temperatures rising to near 30 degrees as the week went on. 15 fish lost and had a few tench, bream and chat.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing to the far margin and island produced the most fish. Only 2 fish caught from the fountain which was surprising as this area has been very good for me before.
Double 20mm boilies to make it harder for the chat. Don't over feed as it brings in the nuisance fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities in good order as usual, nice new sun beds.

Absolutely not as its getting too popular.

Big thank you to Gilles and Sharon, always available if required and great to chat to over glass of wine.

Details of your catches:

There was only 1 angler in the end who caught a total of 30 fish, this was fishing days only (no night fishing) and going out some days too. All grass, common and mirror carp ranging from 20-30lb, I achieved a PB with a common weighing in at 36lb 1oz!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fished the first day with 6-8 inch rigs and caught nothing. Advised to try longer rigs so switched to 11-12 inch rigs and caught 9 fish in a day! Best tip is listen to Gilles, he knows his lake!

Were the facilities what you expected?

We had everything we needed during our stay and we’ll maintained facilities. Very comfortable beds.

Were you happy with them?

Gilles and Sharon were great hosts, nothing was too much. We did not want for anything during our stay.

Definitely 100%, already have!

General Comments:

All our family fell in love with the place. A perfect holiday for my 40th birthday! Could not think of anywhere better to spend it as a keen angler.

Details of your catches:

We had 124 fish between 4 of us during the week without any of us fishing that hard. The average size was roughly mid 20s with the biggest fish of the week being 42lbs. Only one word for it and thats Carnage !!!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

If im being honest, it really didnt matter what tactic we used or what bait we used., between the 4 of us we caught on pretty much anything.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were spot on.

Were you happy with them?

Was happy with facilities, heating wasnt working on arrival in the house, but credit to Gilles who sorted us some fire wood straight away.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Depends on what the friend wants, if they want alot of action and plenty of fish then 100% . If there looking for more of a challenge then maybe not. The venue is in the most stunning setting.

General Comments:

Overall I can have no bad words about the place, Gilles and Sharon were both very helpful and enjoyed my week.

Details of your catches:

We are relative novices, having not finished seriously for thirty odd years. Nevertheless, we landed over 20 decent carp in the 5 days we were there (sadly, our trip was curtailed due to the loss of a very close friend), and this included 3 carp of over forty lbs, 2 at 43 lb, and one at 42 lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Well snowman rigs worked, but single boilies wrapped, accounted for most of the fish. The far bank to the left of the main house accounted for the 42 pounder, but the others came from around the aerator. The swim to the right of the aerator, towards the shallow end of the lake also produced good sport, but the silt is very deep there, so try lighter leads, and be sure to move the bait when you have cast out.

We had limited issues with catfish (the area to the right corner by the house does seem to hold a number) and no chat at all.

Were the facilities what you expected?

This was our third visit in 2 years, and the house is always well prepared.

Were you happy with them?

Mas Bas is a fantastic venue for a family or large group of adults who wisb to combine fishing with a relaxing, in the sun holiday.

The location is nothing short of spectacular, and most mornings we would just comment about how fortunate we were to have the opportunity to see nature at its best.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Sadly, I would definitely recommend Mas Bas to a friend, but that means likely it will become more difficult to book for myself!

Gilles and Sharon are excelleng hosts, very knowledgeable, very attentive, discrete yet there when you need them!

I seriously doubt there are many other carp venues which are as picture perfect as Mas Bas, where you can enjoy great fishing whilst also being able to enjoy two swimming pools and so on.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, we have found Anglinglines very helpful and understanding over the years......and the good news, is we have two further trips to Mas Bas scheduled for 2019!

General Comments:

What can I say? My mate turned up earlier in the year, having not fished for a long long time. After two trips to Mas Bas, he's gone crazy, spent a load of dosh on tackle, and spends most of his days watching carp fishing videos! All down to Mas Bas!
