Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Listen to Gilles !!!! He will point out your spots when you arrive, and answer any questions, if you struggle a bit as we did , we asked him to pop down and he was straight there to put us on track and the fish came .
12” inch hook link long hair minimum size 4 hooks , nothing complicated, just 6 to 10 boilies round each rod , wrap boilies in Korda wrap , this kept the crayfish at bay .

Were the facilities what you expected?

The house and grounds are immaculate and there is everything you need for cooking . A washing machine (you’ll need powder/tablets) and dishwasher ( tablets provided).
It really is a home from home

General Comments:

Well where do I start, this place is an absolute gem, I’m sure many of you will be thinking “that’s too far” as we did, and it is a long drive, but as I got out of the van and was welcomed by Gilles , I walked up the steps to the lake for the first time and WOW!!! Instantly forgetting the journey and a huge smile appeared on my face.

It is the most beautiful site and so peaceful, Gilles and Sharon are fantastic and can’t do enough to help and give any fishing advice or places to eat, local shops, nothing is too much trouble, our French wasn’t great and Sharon kindly even booked a restaurant for us after Gilles had been down and given us directions to each and put them in my phone maps.

The facilities are awesome and the fishing was at times hectic , double and even triple takes were had, the fish are stunning and we had a relaxing chilled week with lots of takes. We arrived home late last night and are already sorting dates to go back next year. We are going to fly and hire rods etc from Gilles , it’s all top end stuff and means a small tackle bag is all we would need, everything else Gilles has or can get. Gilles also can take you for a session on the river Lotte , which we are going to book too.

Again this is perfect for a fishing holiday, nothing better than a good nights sleep before catching carp through the day in such beautiful surroundings. Thankyou Gilles and Sharon, great job well done.

Details of your catches:

Great fishing. 45 fish during the week, including 3 forties! The biggest of which was 45lb 15oz. Not much fishing after dark as the action in the daylight was so good.

All of our fishing was done from the house as it's so comfortable and much easier with the 3 small children we had with us.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We had a lot of success using tigers which also kept us away from the poisson chat.

The margins seemed to produce better at night but open water was where we tended to have most the hits from during the day.

We didn't spend enough time stalking at the top end due to having family and little children with us, however there were certainly plenty more fish to be caught up there during the day!

Were the facilities what you expected?

The house was great, very clean and exactly what we were after. Couldn't have asked for much else.

Very much so.

Started really well with 30 fish in 3 days, 13 for the remainder of the week.
Very stormy weather.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Flourocarbon and Kamo hooklinks, 8-10 inchs, size 4 hook.
20mm bottom baits and 18mm wafters.
Centre to left of wooden stage and the 3 red trees seemed to be best.
Fished to the island all week, not 1 take from it which is strange as this area has been very good to me in the past,
Chats more active this time, not a big problem, wrap baits.

Details of your catches:

Another fantastic trip to Mas Bas Main Lake, just the 3 of us this time, me the only angler with my wife and daughter.
A chat with Gilles on arrival was very informative as always and he informed me how the lake had fished the week before.
Rods out by 5pm on the Saturday and within an hour the first rod was away followed by the other two. A triple take and all 3 of us playing a fish. what a start.
Throughout the week fished days only and ended up with 87 fish which included a new PB mirror and common.

87 fish consisted of,

4 x 40's biggest 48.02
24 x 30's
35 x 20's
23 x Double's
1 x single

An incredible weeks fishing.

IQ2 hook link 8-12 inch's long size 4 hook, wafter and snowman baits.
Fishing to the island and margins all around.
Red spicy fish and rahja spice boilies.
10 - 15 baits at a time with a throwing stick.
