Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Keep the noise down! don't scare the fish away. Fishing throughout the night. Most fish caught near the central lily pads on main lake. The biggest fish were caught on Quest baits 20mm Smokey Fish boilies. We used size 1 microbarbed hooks with 4oz Grippa leads.

General Comments:

Giles and Lesley were very aimable and helpful. The venue is delightful and scenic. Large supermarkets in Agen are half an hour drive (E.Leclerc, Intermarche, Geant, Carrefour)so there is plenty of choice. Do note that they close on sundays. Buzet wine is good! There are 2 fishing tackle shops on the outskirts of Agen "Rayonne de Peche" is opposite Intermarche and the other shop is close to the Geant supermarket - behind the bowling alley. These shops are ideal for hooks, pva etc. We flew to Bordeaux and hired equipment and rods from Giles. We took our own reels and alarms and just managed to keep within the weight allowance! flight was 1 hour 25 minutes from Birmingham. Journey to Mas bas 2 hours. We would certainly visit again.

Details of your catches:

The weather was so hot, the fish weren't having it. There was a aerator put in on the last 2 days of our holiday, then i started catching. Caught my PB a 40lb carp on the last day just a couple of hours before leaving. There was already an aerator in the main lake so the people on there were catching.

Once the aerator went in the fish started moving and then i started catching. It's a shame they didn't sort this out until the last minute.

Yes, apart from the fact that i was told there was sky tv in the accomodation. This was broke,, and this was part of the reason i booked this venue, as it was a holiday for my son more than anything.

General Comments:

I feel a bit like i was mis sold this holiday. I had already had my fishing holidays for the year, and wanted something for my young lad. I was told that there were other young families booked on the lake this week, but it turns out the youngest was 19. The venue offers a service of having bikes to use, but all of these were old and past it so not really useable. Other than that it is a nice venue, and i have been before.

Details of your catches:

Fished the Lotus lake. Dave 1 carp 14lb, 3 coypu and a terrapin! John 3 carp under 20lb (2 from main lake). Found the fishing very hard this year. VERY hot with water temps of 28c! Air temp one day was 42c.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Baits were boilies or maize. All baits had to be very tight to lilly pads. Crayfish a problem this year. Fishmeal boilies had to be netted but crays still attacking them eventually.

General Comments:

A lot of the lotus lilly beds have been really cut back to increase amount of water fishable. I do not feel this has worked. All the carp seem to have retreated to the unfishable very far end. The amount of features to fish to has reduced and nothing was coming from open water. This is a hard water, my fish was a last night consolation. however the fish are there as last year i had carp to 44lb from main lake and saw carp caught to 48lb from Lotus lake.

Details of your catches:

1 common carp 19lb 2oz from Lotus Lake and two fish from main lake. 1 common carp 17lb 10oz and 1 grass carp 16lb10oz. Thanks to the guys on the main lake for letting me drop into the corner as nothing was showing on Lotus Lake.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Boilies or maize tight up against the lilies although small skimmer bream proved to be a nuisance this year.

General Comments:

2nd time at Mas Bas.Fishing a slight improvement on last time when I blanked, possibly due to frosts at night, but very few fish came out of either lake.Doubtfull if there will be a third time.
