Simple bottom bait rigs and rafters cast at showing fish. Only fished days until midnight to get some decent kip!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were great, one of the beds was broken so had to use the sofa bed in lounge area but as there were two of us that was not an issue.  Would have been if more anglers on the trip.

Kitchen great for what is needed, and the fridge is a god send to avoid loads of trips to the supermarket.

100% - perfect quiet location with great fishing and close to supermarkets and fishing shop if you need anything.

Angling Lines were brilliant throughout the whole experience, great comms around bookings and very helpful regarding any questions we had.

General Comments:

Ragon is well worth a trip and is in a beautiful part of France.  Be ready for the noise from Magny Cours race track which is just a few miles away but was only for a couple of the days we were there.  Enjoy emptying the long drop after a week too!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Right of the spit. The is a bowl around 19 wraps out that drops to around 9 ft. There's also another spot at 28 1/4 wraps towards the northeast side of the lake. Spend abit of time leading around and you will find the same river bed that we did which carp clearly patrol all day. Also the right corner near the Dam walls drop to around 10 feet in please and was very productive all week. Be mindful of the weed. Best baits appeard to be yellow pop up's or white wafters. Don't be shy with the bait. The carp certainly prefer the more fruity flavours.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were ok but definitely in need of attention. Make sure you take your own cooking utensils and cutlery if you go as their supply is sparce. Also make sure you take toilet roll. We arrived after a 9 hour journey to no toilet roll with wasn't exactly ideal. The shower needs a revamp and is a very tight squeeze. I'm 6ft tall and weight 13 stone and really struggled to have a comfortable wash but made do. The toilet is just a bucket with a seat which was fine, but we wasn't overly pleased when the bailiff told us that we had to empty it.

General Comments:

Overall the lake was absolutely fantastic and we had plenty of fish smashing PB's for all 4 of us. Biggest carp was a 48lb stunner.

Oh be warned, there are alot of crayfish is the lake as well as coypu's.

49 fish between 3 adults and 2 children. The kids showing us how it’s done with a 54lb common and mirror each.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Slip d rigs presenting a snowman over Nash Scopex Squid was the winner from the start with all rods reverting to this tactic to get best results. Fishing for a bite at a time worked best.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes second visit.

Were you happy with them?

Yes good balance of usability and comfort without being too refined that you couldn’t relax in. If anything the fridge could be a little bigger but there is the use of a much larger one at the farm 5 mins away.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Definitely. Although it’s a little further than some venues it’s worth the extra effort as the lake is in a lovely setting. We drove down avoiding tolls which took 7.5hours as we had the time and used tolls on the way back which took 5.5 hours. We were towing a trailer so stuck to around 65-70. Both ways were an easy and pleasant drive with good views and plenty of opportunities for stops if required. Definitely will be back as all the fish we caught were in very good order and put up good hard fights.

Yes used Angling Lines for years and their service is second to none. Always there to help before and during trips with any request never too much trouble. When travelling abroad you can have confidence that angling lines have got your back should you have any issues.

General Comments:

Big thanks to the farmer for his help while on site and to Chris the owner who visited us one afternoon. Chris was a very knowledgeable man who clearly takes pride in his fishery and stock and was genuinely pleased to see photos and discuss tactics. Wonderful week we will be back.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

3 rods left and 3 right of spit, most fish came from far margin just off weed bed.
Did catch from all areas of open water.
Started with pop ups and corn but caught too many grass carp.
Swapped to simple hair rig with Krill dumbbell seemed to do the trick, over a bed of pellet, Maize, Maize flake and a few boilies.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were great! Saved us from the rain! Everything we needed, clean and comfortable. Great to have a shower at the end of a rainy day at the bank.

Were you happy with them?

More than happy, the lake and facilities are beautiful and well maintained. The bailiff was on hand to help if needed to change gas in the fridge or come and fix things.

2nd trip with Angling lines, trip made easy and when we contacted the team about our trip home they were more than helpful. We have already booked another trip with them.

General Comments:

The lake and facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Beautiful variety of fish caught and although the weather was very wet and cold at some points it was still a really good week. Having a hot shower to warm up was a big plus!
The surrounding area is beautiful and there were supermarkets close if we needed anything.
