Listen to Nigel the lake owner, if he says small baits work well then use them. We all fished different methods and the most successful came on double maize as hookbaits

General Comments:

It's clear that a lot of work has gone into this lake and that is credit to Nigel. A friendly and helpful owner who will go out of his way to ensure you have a great stay while on his lake. Always there for advice when we needed it and knew where to put those who might be struggling to catch. The fish are pristine! We had two lake records in the week, the first being a common that went 60lb and the second a mirror at 57lb! The potential for fish growth in this lake is massive. The facilities were perfect for what we required. Plenty of storage for bait and our own food. Shower facilities were comfortable and the kitchen was big enough to accommodate us easily. Thoroughly recommend trying this lake out, you won't be disappointed!

Details of your catches:

4 carp caught, biggest 36lb mirror, 30lb Common, 26lb Common, 19.5lb Common. Also 4 others lost due to hook pulls!!!!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Find clear spots near the margins, which is where the 4 caught came from and 3 of the lost fish came from. Baited with house maize, and a mixture of sticky baits boillies. Only one of the lost fish came from open water between the weed beds. We used a mixture of Ronnie rigs and standard hair rigs. Also make sure you can drop the lead on the take, as the fish kite into weed beds. We used the lakes boats with Aqua Scopes and our bait boats with sonar to find the clear spots.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Exactly as expected, even the Woods bank had a working shower by middle of the week we were there. Nigel the owner spent quite a few hours getting that shower up and running for us.

Absolutely, I have booked another trip with Angling Lines for April next year to a different lake, they sort all the booking and travel arrangements for us.

General Comments:

The week was very warm (for October) during the day, and the pressure was very high, which slowed our catch rate down. However we have fished in France quite a lot, so we know you can get slow weeks, which even Nigel the owner (who is a really helpful and friendly guy) said the lake was fishing slowly. However it is obvious that this lake has huge potential, and all our group stated that we will return in the future.

We had catches ranging from 20lb to nearly 50lb with a large number in the 30's and landed over 30 fish

Finding nice clear spots to present and using the house baits

General Comments:

Having fished in france many times I'd have to say Souvenirs was by far the best venue we've been to, the lake is beautiful and varied not just your average bland lake and the fish are stunning. On top of that the facilities made the trip so much nicer and Lewis made us feel at home and was happy to help which really helped the group make the most of our time there. Would recommend to anyone.
